A guy nearby has a FM-146 that was supposedly a reman and has 20,000 miles on it. Says input seal was installed wrong from reman. If this is the case can you easily remove the input housing and simply replace the seal?

Thanks,

I would say no to that. You should never reuse a seal once it has been installed. Buy another seal and then you won't have to worry.

No intentions of using a used seal. The question is, can you remove the input housing and simply replace the new seal? Some transmissions you cannot do it that simple.

You'll need to pull the bellhousing off and then the bell stud bolts and cover plate bolts, and finally remove the front cover plate. The seal is contained within the cover plate.
