How hard do the front bearings come out of a fm146? I was going to sell my pickup and decided to keep it. The other day the trans started making a hissing noise from it. Figure it has to be the input shaft bearing but i have never done one before. When i swapped to the 5spd i pulled the bearing cover off looks easy but just wanted to know what to use to pull the bearing if anything at all? Any help would be great. Thanks:icon_confused:

when i did my full rebuild of my fm145 - basically same thing, at least when ordering a rebuild kit- i put a bearing splitter in the grove where that snap ring rides and then using alot of heat and a slide hammer, i started to get it to move. its kinda difficult if ya dont got adiquate tools tho. i will die a happy person if i never have to tear into one of those again. good luck, if ya need i got a 30-40 page copy of a factory ford manual that strickly involves a complete fm rebuild, its very detailed and helpful.

Thanks i am going to give it a try. I will also let you know about the manual. I dont have away to heat it up (no torch) but we have one at work so i might try that. Thanks again
