First off, I looked for a fuel category in the Forum with no luck. So I'm here looking for some help.

I'd like to cut an opening over my fuel tank (87 BII 4X4) to replace the fuel pump. I have a piece of flooring from another BII I'll be using to make a hatch/cover when I'm done.

Has anyone else done this? If so, did you keep measurements of where to cut and how much to cut? I'm guessing maybe a 12X12 opening but not real sure.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I've done it. But I'm on my phone and dont have pics handy. But there are a couple threads out there where I posted pics. Shouldn't be too harsh to find.

Thanks. I found your post were it showed pics of the access hole. This is exactly what I want to do.

Any tips on pinpointing where to cut to help avoid cutting fuel lines or wiring?

Thanks!

It's been a very long time since I've owned that b2. But I think if you look at the pic you can sort of trace where the cuts need to go. As far as depth I think you're safe if you dont go deeper than one inch. I'm not sure what I used to cut the steel but probably a skill saw with a metal cutting blade for the straight cuts and aviation snips for the corners.

PS: throw a link to my pic for future reference of other people. Thanks.
