After work tonight i turned off my headlights and came to a stop then i punched the gas pedal with my transmission in drive with the over drive off and my rear tires spinned a good amount in the dark.

When i got on my street i also turned my headlights off and came to a stop then i punched the gas pedal with my transmission in drive with over drive on and my rear tires did not spin much at all.

This was my first night since owning my 02 ranger fx4 off road that i did this type of fun ;)

od and no od would not affect taking off from a stop. it was probably just a less traction deal the first time versus more traction the second time.

i would imagine the 4.0 should easily spin the tires from a stop though. its a pretty powerful v6 in a light truck.

be careful turning the lights off and doing that as you may attract some unwanted attention. driving with no lights on while its dark isn't something that normally is done by law abiding citizens, thats usually a gang type deal.

they used to do that in the 80s and 90s as a type of initiation for new gang members in socal, and i think also in texas. they would drive around with the lights off and if a car flashed to let them know the lights were off, they would chase the car down and shoot them.

I have been hearing that for 50 years, I have never seen or read of it actually happen.

just some stories from when i was kid in socal
