Also, use whatever OS is best for what you do. One is not necessarily better than the other...they're just different. They all have their place and jobs they're best suited for.
I will say that Ubuntu is worlds ahead of the version of SuSE I ran years ago. I ran it with Windows 98 as a dual boot machine. Then when 2000 came along I couldn't get it to recognize NTFS (I think this was the issue - damn it, I'm getting old), so I had to use the NT boot loader. But I had to mount the floppy drive or CD-Rom all the time. It hated my Panasonic LS-120 drive for some reason. It was a huge PITA, so I quit using it.
I don't know that I will ever be able to get away from Windows completely, and I'm fine with that.
