so i went out with some friends to shoot pool. on the way home my chebbie would bog real bad and i could smell raw fuel.....i had half a tank when i left the pool hall and by the time i got home im down to a gallon:pissedoff:

get home pop the hood and this damn thing is spraying fuel outta the fuel rail. all over the carb, all over the manifold. i mean this thing is hoseing everything. i have rebuilt it 3 times in the past 4 weeks beacuse it has eaither leaked or the floats get stuck. this is bull. i cant keep the damn thing in tune eaither. now i get to rebuild the damn thing for a 4th time. in the 35$ for the 4 rebuild kits i couldve bought a decent edelbrock carb.

anyone have any advice on what to do on my holly truck avenger?:annoyed:

u must not be doing something right, or there is major debris in the carb, ive run holly truck avengers in the past untouched other then a initial tune for 4 seasons of wheelin mudholes that would swallow the 40's

If I were you, I would have stopped when I noticed it and taken a look. You obviously aren't doing something right if you've had the same problem in a month. I've ran an edelbroke on my truck and switched to a holley and ran a whole second faster in the 1/4 mile with the holley on it. Don't tell me they suck!

Every time I've seen a carb spraying fuel out the bowl vents
it was because some yahoo putting teflon tape on the inverted
flare feed tube and having some teflon get into the float valve assembly.

I heard there was a batch of bad castings on some of the truck avengers that made threads pull out and put aluminum junk in things, might not hurt to give holly CS a call...

its spraying right outta the front of the fuel rail

anyone?

i dont know much about carbs but my buddy who used to build trucks for a living know a thing or two.
he always stayed away from holley carbs for two reason that u meansioned. they never stayed tuned and the floats would get stuck. he runs Edlebrock and doesnt have problems.

another buddy of mine did a 302 swap on his prerunner yota and used a brand new holley. he had problems right away with it. well my friend who i refered to earlier, hooked him up with a used Edlebrock and problem solved. the new holley just wouldnt stay tuned.

fixed my last problem now it will idle and move but as soon as i give it gas it dies. pop the hood and the front fuel float adjustment screw is spraying fuel!

weird. I love holley carbs and wont use anything but them. Ive had no problems with them at all. Ive been told that edelbrock carbs are underpowerd or something like that...i dont know, but whatever, i use holley carbs and they work great for me.

this blows, im now resorted to driveing the damn minivan beacuse i cant trust this stupid carb

Holley carbs, I bought one, it DESTORIED MY PROJECT CAR!!!!!

I had a holley street avenger, the carb worked great, the stupid fuel line that came with the carb was shit. The provided fuel clamps were shit.

After driving it a few miles, the fuel line just popped off the supplied "T" and pumped out fuel as it died, then it caught on FIRE.... I had a dry chemical, put out the fire and ruined my project...

Carb worked great, what a shame.
