I need to replace my Ignition Control Module on my 1990 ranger, 2.9 v6 I was just wondering which brand is the best and which ones are garbage, Mallory, MasterPro, BWD, Accel, Motorcraft, MSD Ect.

I just had to replace mine on my 94 B2300. I went with the AIRTEX / WELLS unit which carries a 3 year/36 month warranty.

It's only been in there a few months so I can't really say it's going to last but I did clean the mounting surface really good and used some high quality silver computer CPU heatsink paste instead of the packet that came with it so hopefully it will last a long time. My old one was in for almost 22 years.

$67.00 from Rockauto. Use the discount we get for 5% off also

I can't speak for the others like Mallory, Accel or MSD. I think they are a waste of money on something that old and used for just street driving.

I did have some Accel plug wires on mine years ago. Never noticed any difference and the were around $120 at the time. I just go with the Bosch wires at AZ and get a new set every few years for free.

I just took off the old Ignition Control Module its a Motorcraft

Motorcraft is the Ford "House Brand", it's basically genuine Ford parts.

For best compatibility and reliability, use Motorcraft replacements. They cost a bit more than the bargain brands, but less than the performance brands.

I think its an old one, E6SF-12A297-A2A
