If Chrysler dies what would happen to the Jeep brand?

the u.s. should really quit worring do much about the middle east and invade china. wal-mart is nothing more than a china-shop these days. and remember when they first appeared on the scene? "products proudly made in the u.s. of a.) was their marketing slogan then, not so much now. i think unions have ran their useable course, they had a purpose back in the day but i think the day has long passed. were all in a hole and its going to be a while before we see any light at the end of this tunnel. i just hope the light isnt a train...

I think you are an idiot... union workers simply have a contract based on performance and company profit when the contract was signed... when the company takes loses and a new contract is negotiated (key word there guy) the company will more often than not take things from employees...
70 plus dollars an hour for UNSKILLED labor is a bit much by anyone's standards. And yes, I know about unions. I was a teamster for several years, and like a dumbass I let my membership lapse. They have a hell of a pension plan that I could sure use right now.:)shady

When GM, Chrysler, and Ford (eventually) go bankrupt, they'll still be able to operate under bankruptcy.

They'll be able to get rid of the pirates (union workers) and dramatically lower their operating costs.

Well, right now Chrysler is going to STOP production this Monday. Many of the suppliers have stopped shipments because of the bankruptcy filing. So a interruption for sure! Suppliers like Cummins could be destroyed.

I suspect, when all this is said and done, the "new" Chrysler will be owned by the United Auto Workers, which understandably will try to maximize jobs, wages, and benefits in the short term. We saw how well that worked with United Airlines, and Huck's convenience stores in the past.

My place of employment fortuantely has very little Chrysler buisness, but we do have alot of GM buisness and many are being displaced as some lines shutdown for months.

Cummins will not be destroyed, incidently, since you mentioned them. They actually are involved in several other markets besides pickup trucks--which is a luxury market and much more volatile in a down-turn.

Bankruptcy for Chrysler means a judge will assist in restructuring their debt.

The biggest blame for Chrysler's failure lies in them allowing Mitsubishi to buy them out of Diamond Star Motors a while back. Look at where Mitsubishi and Hyundai are at now and look at Chrysler. As far as the Jeeps go I have no idea how the new ones are as far as reliability but I really hate the way that they look.

A year or two ago Mitsubishi was debating about pulling the vehicle division out of North America due to poor sales.

even i dont like jeeps at all( maybe older ones i do like) because the more new the more gay they made em, it would be sad to see it disappear, cuz if they are out, then, what 4x4 vehicles is the 4x4 ranger going to smoke?? lol!!!!
no seriously, i hope jeep wont be a part of gm, cuz if right now they made 4 door wranglers(ugly thing) im sure gm will make it worst by doing a FWD jeep lol!! or electric jeep(even worst), if jeep goes to ford, it will be a nice move, cuz it would be keeping a bit of his own identity and attitude, but i hope it can stand as independent brand, cuz if daimler controls jeep then there will be appearing mercedes-jeeps or jeep-benz, killing the hole american identity of the brand (i cant imagine what will happen if fiat or mitsubishi(shitsubishi) )

I wish the jeep line could go back to its respective owners (Bantam or Willy's) But those companies died out a long time ago. I don't think that Ford however will be caught dead buying out jeep.

I heard today that Fiat is poised to take over Chrysler - to what extent I am not sure. My source has inside information from GM and Chrysler. In fact the Arlington, Texas plant is about to do a hard shut down for a few months.

ford helped make the jeeps in ww2. i know cause ive seen the body of a ford-willys jeep(rusted out but it said ford).
id rather see ford owning jeep than fiat or something

My wife is Director - Advanced Engineering Controls & Diagnostics at Cummins and I know jack shit about anything because she doesn't tell me anything until it becomes public knowledge. I hear rumors about what companies Cummins might be installing engines in for testing--she won't tell me anything. Even Michelle Obama probably gets some scoop, right? My wife doesn't talk about work at all, and when she works at home she locks herself up in a back room. I get no friggin scoop.

I need some sources with inside information about things. Who are these people that know things and are free to blab?:icon_confused:

My source retired from GM last year and knows people who know people LOL. So everyday he has been in contact with one person or another that has information - you know the good ole boy system.

A merger with Fiat isn't really top secret news, it has been hashed around for a couple months.

you really know nothing about unions except what you heard from a guy who read an article.

it must be nice to have a job where your employer can fire you for no reason, but keep the new guy who makes 5 dollars less than you an hour but fvcks up all the time... and to have your wages cut 47% on monday from what it was on friday...

you really have no clue... how old are you and what union experience do you have? did you know hospital employees have unions... and teachers have unions and police have unions... oh and firemen... they all must be pirates!!!
automakers get paid more than firemen....hmmm...

hey guys lets do something.... lets buy jeep lol!!! i have like 400 US dollars right now....
