I know it's 2026 and this is an older thread but I didn't want to start another "IAC for a 2000 2.5L" thread.
I've been looking for over 4 years, I've tried the "Hitachi ABV0016 Idle Air Control Valve" from Amazon but had the over rev issue when I pushed the clutch in so I reinstalled the Motorcraft IAC that was on the truck when I bought it.
A dealer part number search indicated the one on the truck (F87E-9F697-ED 01-18-00 3( Date Stamp?) isn't for the 2.5L engine but it's been on for years even before I bought the truck.
Unfortunately even after cleaning it twice now it's not working well anymore so I'm back on the hunt for a suitable replacement. Actually I've been looking since I bought the truck back in 2021 (I think) but now I'm looking more aggressively since it looks like I may have gotten all the life out of my current valve I'm going to.
Here's what I've found so far according to the local Ford Dealer right next door to me-
The applicable factory part numbers for the 2.5L Lima engines were- F5OE-9F715-AA or E9TE-9F715-A1A. The first number seems to be the more prevalent of the two when doing a search.
The updated number They gave me for the OEM is- CX1654 but that was a year or two ago so I can't confirm it's still the right part number. When I checked last night and today most places that still list CX1654 either show it as "Discontinued", "Out of Stock", or "Unavailable". I think Rock Auto had it last year but not anymore.
I just did another search and this Ai Overview came up. I'm not sure AI can be trusted but since I'm old and don't trust much of anything these days, here's the info copied and pasted-

CX1686 is not the part number given to me by the Ford parts guy so one of them is wrong.
I'm going to do a new search with these two part numbers from the AI overview and see what comes up. If I find anything of value I'll post it here later.
This overview makes it seem like as long as the aftermarket part only has 2 wires it will work, but that's not true. Now to be fair; I did order the Hitachi IAC from Amazon so it could very well be a fake, nothing surprises me anymore.
If someone else has has better luck with the Hitachi ABV0016 from another vendor, or any other aftermarket IAC valve, please post any info. I'm sure there are still a bunch of us looking for the same thing, a damn IAC valve that actually works on our lil 2.5L FF Rangers.
