That's not much since it is on a trailer, Bro. I haul a few flats boats around. My dad's boat is a 20 footer with twin Merc's and my Ranger takes it wherever we go. My flats boat is a 17 footer and it is easy to tow with my Ranger. It is really how you load the bed. If you over load the bed you put a lot of strees on that truck. That 4 wheeler in the truck is nothing. I hauled 5 of our 4 wheelers and 3 dirt bikes up to Mississippi from Florida a few times with my Ranger. 3 dirt bikes in the bed in the bed and four 4 wheelers on a trailer. It had no problems doing so with the 4.0 motor
and 33x12.5 KO tires. I do miss doing that...had too many toys and had to downsize a bit.

Sure kind of reminds me of helping a good neighbor selling firewood. Had a guy come up with a '78' El Comeno and wanted a full cord of wood. Well we loaded it up till we looked at his tires, the rims were getting really close to the ground. Told him about it and he said "More wood, I can put more air in the tires at the station down the street". Just another clue-less person.

Why not? Read the door tag. Even though we call oir trucks quarter ton, they are rated for much much more than that.

Not enough to tow a fullsize Chevy though (the second smaller pic)

My little Ranger pulls pretty hard, I would almost rather haul my tractor that weighs ton more the Ranger but virtually no wind drag. Flipping the tables... that little Ranger is gettings its butt kicked.

I towed a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee on a car dolly with my 1994 Ranger 4.0L for about 200 miles this summer. I was really impressed, once up to speed, you really can't tell it's there. However, even with good brakes, you can definitely feel the extra weight.

That is a half-ton 2wd C10 (looks like a short-bed) probably with a small-block chevy and probably weighs under 4,000#. The trailer is 2,000# tops. Probably 1,800#. That's within the tow rating of a 4.0 Ranger.

Your 4-wheeler is probably 600#. That's not threatening a Ranger by any means.

I've hauled a 79 ford f150 4x4 v8 behind our 93 Ranger with a 4.0 4x4 and never had a problem with power or stopping.

Wish i had a pic but in my 88 we filled it full of dirt till it was flowing over the sides, hit the helper springs and just kept filling it, damn thing would drive straight for nothing. Did the same thing with my 96 f150, theres still a small chunk of pavement missing from coming off the railroad tracks from where my trailer hitch was dragging.

It was only 15 miles though

But the best i remember was towing a 60s model International school bus that was converted into a camper andw ent through a flood, we where told if we could get it out we could have. pulled it out a river bank with a 78 F350 wrecker and a 84 chevy 3500 wrecker. put it on the f350 to bring it home and with the extra weight from the camper conversion and 3inches of mud on the floor we would pick the front tires on the wrecker when we took off or hit a bump. when we got to the turn off for my road which was a 90* turn down hill, i had to get out of the chevy and me my 2brothers and my mom had to sit on the front to keep the tires on the ground to make the turn. Thats how you properly overload something, of course dad had hauled complete mobile home with that truck before

That 4 wheelers not a bad load lol. My old tech teacher loaded his '91 ranger FULL of white oak wood once, which is very heavy...hes got the 2.9L V6 and a 5 speed, 2wd...he said as he was going down the road the front wheels were so close to being off the ground that the steering wheel was crooked. Hard to believe he still got over 200,000mi on the stock clutch.

And I have a 4 cylinder!

This is dropping off, not picking up:

This I towed 180 miles back up to Ferris where my friend went to college. This is an early pic, the front end was back on the J-10, my Ranger bed was packed pull, friend in the passenger seat, and even more parts in the back of the J-10.

I've also had the bed stacked bedrail to bedrail with Commercial fire doors. Towed many more vehicles too. I use mine like a loaded 1/2 ton.

Oh man...it's times like this that I wish I took pics when I moved in college. A full bedroom set and couches...in my ranger, no trailer. 2 ftt above the roof on back to my tailgate. Ah, utility.
