That looks well... welll...welll beyond the scope of a haynes or chiltons manual... you need to get either a complete harness in better shape or a factory service manual to sort that out.
To get you started, the tech section has SOME of the wiring schematics, I believe all of em are copies of haynes so they use haynes abbreviations.

I'm just gonna link to the main wiring stub in the tech articles and not even try to guess if we are talking body harness here or engine or what.

aye....my hands are also janked up quite a bit more then i would like....

does it still...or was it still using the ignition key to start and stop or is it on switches?

when you engage it does the fuel pump cycle at all?

for damn sure that would help

there used to be a guy on ebay selling new old stock harnesses, he had a few for rangers. That was a lot time ago though.

I can understand your frustration.

With wiring that screwed up, I can only add to the others are saying.

You are absolutely going to need the factory wiring manual- the 1986 Ranger & Bronco II EVTM (Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual). eBay is the best place I've found for these, and they do come up cheap, if you have the luxury of time to check the listings often.

it ran a week and just stopped

If it were me, I'd focus on the not running part first, with basic troubleshooting. Have you determined if it lacks fuel, spark, or both yet?

If we can get things narrowed down a bit, there's a lot better chance of helping you out.

If it did run, and then it didn't, there's a good chance you can get it back to that point.

I would also check facebook marketplace... it's gonna be more of a needle in a haystack, but I keep running across collections of haynes books and a random complete EVTM with it. (I search for ranger, find a guy with 2 ranger books and 6 capri books and the EVTM for capri kinda thing... just keep looking)..
