lol, just the fact that if u really want more power then the easiest way would to be a 4.0 swap, and i just happened to have everything for the swap, but im in NJ lol

yea a 4.0 would be but i suck at wireing

Pace Setter or JBA ($180-550ish)

World Heads from Summit, Powermax from CamCraft (ported worlds), etc.

bout any thing.

Lots of money $$$$$$$$

Yes, but there is no kit to do so.

Getting more than mild with mods is going to make the stock engine management go ape shit as well. Running it N/A, I couldn't see it breaking 200hp, especially on the stock engine management (it's 140hp now).

What gears are you running? Have you considered a gear swap? Guessing you're 4x4?

It's called a 4.0. Going through the trouble to stroke a 2.9 would take a lot more work than wiring up a 4.0.

dont lissen i like the 2.9 its a killer little motor but it is still a little motor so you are not going to be able to make v8 numbers. so the first thing i would sugest is to consitter your plans in the future for the truck...is it going to be a daily driver, a killer mud machine a fast street machine or a combonation of these.... right now i am going through Sven Pruett's book "How to Build and Modify Ford 60 degree V6's" with a fine tooth comb picking out as many mods as i can handle(i got almost the hole book highlighted). i am aslo diching the stock efi setup and building a custom intake and runing a 390 4bbl holly. now those are my plans and many people are gonna call me crazy but if you want to put some time effort and alot more money than its worth you could have a killer little motor. now i hate to guess that ur not looking for that much workso if i were you i would first start by getting a set of pacesetter headers a 6al msd box porting the upper and lower intakes adding the 5.0L throttle body. you can do all that and not even tare into the engine. now if u wanted to brake into the engine you could install a mild cam and a set of 2.8 pistons as well. now if you wanted a more powerful stock ford ranger you could go to the jusckyard pull a used motor out of a worn out truck and install it into your truck.

You're going to successfully do all those things to hop up that engine when you can't even spell "listen, junkyard, tear, whole, ditching, and combination".

BTW, did that book help in converting a 2.9 to not use a computer?

well kinda it comfirmed my thaught that you could use a 2.8 durraspark distributor with a differnt gear on the bottom of it other than that its stuff like the rocker shaft mods and how to port the 2.9 heads ect...

That book literally says that you can use a 2.8 dizzy in a 2.9 with the 2.9 gear?

If that's so, that info could really help folks who want to drop a 4.0 in an older vehicle that had a 2.8

well actully it says u can use a 1979 mustang2 with a 2.8 distributor in a 2.6 2.8 2.9 and even a 4.0 if u wanna go through the work
