So about a week ago I got my sub and amp hooked up in my truck and on the way home my check gauge light came on cause the temp was hot. Now everytime I drive the truck it always goes hot and I have the run the heater to cool it down. When I drive on the freeway and have the radio off it runs fine. What do you guys think it could be?

Seems pretty obvious the truck ain't getting hot don't it? So if it started when you installed the radio maybe it has something to do with the installation? Either one of the hot wires or grounds needs to be moved would be my very first guess..
I'm betting it ain't getting hot, aren't you?
Have you took the cap off and looked at the actual coolant level? Could really be a problem..but not likely.

Ya I dont think it is either cause it doesnt run any different then it does when its normal temp. I will check the coolent too. Thanks for the help if anyone else has imput please let me know

If the problem occured after an electrical installation something may be crossed in the system. A small dip type themometer (don't ever use it in your thanksgiving turkey again) in a cool radiator cap might give you a comparison to your guage when the motor is run. The use of the heater to bring temp down sounds like you might have temperature issue.

Good luck
