Ive read the skicky's and the tech pages, in the forums everyone says you can only use the dual sump pan but in the tech library it says the dual sump or the rear sump pan so here is a pic of my oil pan can someone tell me if this will work, if not do I need to change my oil pump and pickupto use a dual sump pan?

I know when I tried to use a pan off a EB(it looked kind of like the one you have) it would hit the crossmember (the center of the pan would hit). If you go with a dual sump pan you will need the new pickup tube, your pump should be fine.

You are going to have to use the rear sump just like the tech area says. Here's a picture of what you need. You can see how far back the sump is compared to what you showed.

I think it will hit your crossmember.

That's a pan off either an E or F series van or truck. It's more like a 3/4 sump pan and doesn't clear the Ranger's crossmember. You must use the matching pickup tube for the pan regardless

so if I call a local parts store, what vehicles did this pan come on? last oil pan question, I promise. Thanks in advance.

Fox body Mustangs (79-93) with a 5.0L had those pans as did Crown Vic/Grand Marquis with the 5.0L.

Also came on the T-Bird/Cougar, Lincoln Mark VII, Town car, Fairmont, Zephyr, Capri. In short EVERY Ford, Lincoln or Merc car beginning in 1980, with the exception of the 1980Granada/Monarch. This pan with the dipstick in the pan was used for a couple of years starting in 1979 in the Mustang.

So I ordered a edelbrock performer rpm air gap intake manifold, oil filter relocation kit, and my local napa has a oil pan but dont have the pick up tube, does anyone know if the pickup tube comes with the advanced adapters oil pan? its pictured on the site with the pickup tube but that dont always mean it comes with it and I tried calling but got no answer.

Just another case of someone looking in the computer with out a clue, comes back with nothing and gives you that "Deer in the Headlights" stare back. No wonder they couldn't find it, it's called a pick-up screen! You asked for the wrong part so it's your fault! I kept the NAPA on line catalog handy just for cases like this.
You will need the main stud that mount the tube, I mean screen assembly

to say I dont have a clue might be a bit harsh (but this is the internet) mis-informed might be a better discription, either way thankyou for educating me.

I'm really sorry, I thought you went to the local NAPA store looking for the pick-up tube. I was joking when I said it was "your" fault for asking for the wrong part, I've always called it the pick-up tube also.
Hey, keep plugging away.

as it turns out U.S part numbers dont work so well in canadian computers, the guy at nappa still cant get the part for me :( but im gonna pick up the oil pan in hopes that I can locate a "oil pump screen assembly". Mac i think i took your comments in the wrong context, oops but even if you meant it the way I read it the first time, no need to be sorry, im very mechanically inclined but I have very little experience with the internals of a motor, i know what the parts do and how it all works, but not alot on the technical side, thats why I ask questions, I try to do research but with the amount of time I get to spend in front of the computer sometimes im forced to ask the question and hope for an answer, and thank you for those answers, there will be ALOT of questions over the next few weeks or months.

You're right, I really meant as a joke pointed at the people behind the counter, not you! We have three NAPA stores here in town, I only go to one. Even the young ones know the right questions to ask without the computer. Keep them questions coming!
