I know, I know, another oil pan question!

Someone once tried to get it through my thick head that a "Rear Sump" off of a truck engine would NOT work. But, I had to find out for myself.
The Rear Sump --- doesn't work!
The "Dual Sump" from a Fox body Mustang, a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis and as Baddad says:
Also came on the T-Bird/Cougar, Lincoln Mark VII, Town car, Fairmont, Zephyr, Capri. In short EVERY Ford, Lincoln or Merc car beginning in 1980, with the exception of the 1980Granada/Monarch. This pan with the dipstick in the pan was used for a couple of years starting in 1979 in the Mustang.
You can pay an arm and a leg -- or you can go to your local junkyard and pick up the pan, the pickup, and probably the dipstick for around $50.
I wanted the dipstick in the pan, and the low oil level sensor. So, I modified the dual sump to satisfy what I wanted.

I dont think $115 is really an arm and a leg for what im geting when if you buy it seperate the pick up tube alone is $50-60, besides that the junkyards here dont deal with anything older than 10 years so finding a oil pan thats 16 years old gets hard, for me new is the way to go. I really like the oil level sensor though.

Hey Jon,
Hope it all works for you. Try finding parts for an odd ball that's 40 years old. They got it, you need it, you pay. Don't think that pan comes with the low oil level sensor. Think if you want that feature, you'll have to do like Wade and add it in.
