I just made a ram air intake

I am not knocking anyones ideas on cold air intakes, Take some temps of your incoming air, I think you will be rather suprised how hot the under hood temps are along with the air temp directly around the filter. Just because you make an entry for air to enter into the engine compartment area does not mean it will cool the area down, controlling under hood engine heat is poor on almost all vehicles, and it is especially poor on a Ranger. That is why I moved my intake out in front of the heat source. As for custom intake, bling is nice but I want one that works, then I will do what I can to either make it invisible, stock appearing or pretty, in that order.

This is where I have seen guys cut out the back riser of their powerdome hoods.

To the OP, do whatever you want to do to your truck, but like said before, please leave the dryer ducting out of it.

am i the only one who just leaves the engine stock? I mean, my truck can haul just about ANYTHING i ask it to, with plenty of power, so i never saw the reason to mod any intake or anything? i mod the outside a little to make it look nice. but most people don't ever see under the hood so whats the point?

lilred96, can i get the specs on this. i am doing a few mods while i am swapping my engine and i like this idea a lot.

about engines before ya go about making alternations to em.
IF you are ever able to get more air flow the engine will complain. Ya see them engineers at Ford made the package really tight. If ya get more air flow the compression will be higher.. If the compression is higher, the engine WILL clatter! If the engine clatters, the knock sensor will tell the computer. THEN the computer will retard the timing. When the timing is retarded the engine will run like shit!
SO if your engine isn't running like shit, you DO NOT have more air flow..
I cannot understand why guys think they can get more air into their engines.. Do you'ns actually think Ford engineered an engine package, ANY ENGINE PACKAGE, that can use more air?

Explain how this has anything to do with compression?

Thats why i took out my right headlight...

JP02XLT hey can u post or IM me some pics of your intake, we have the same ride, just like to see your set up.
