I have a little issue with 1st and reverse

It is the slave. Mine did the same thing. Look at the clutch too when you have it apart.

Yeah, I just checked the fluids and they are up to the top. I mean past the "MAX" mark. Could that be a bad thing to?

I have two resoviors that don't have labels. Could you guess help me out?
There is one really small one in the back. I mean it probably has like a 1-2 inch diameter. ( I would guess that is the transmission fluid)

Then there is one (I think it is the break fluid) that is sort of the middle and to the right a little and is oval shaped?

Also there is this product I heard called "manual transmission lubricant" Do you think that will help a little?

So most of you think its the slave cylinder... Guess I better change it and hope that is it.

changing the slave is cheap insurance, a days worth of work, and one big relief.

That is the clutch master and reservoir

Sorry guys it has taken me so long to get on. My computer would randomly shut down. I don't know what would happen.

Anyways, I am thinking about changing the slave cylinder this weekend. I was wondering if it absolutley necessary to change the throw out bearing as well or do you think that it would last a couple more months. (I am on a very tight budget!).

Also, is OK if we review the symptoms to make sure that it IS the slave cylinder and not waste my money please...
1. WHEN STOPPED first gear is really hard to shift to.
2. Pressing the clutch makes a little liquidy sound.
3. All other gears are pretty soft to shift after 1st.
4. Reverse makes a grinding sound most of the time it is shifted to.
There are sometimes some exceptions. SOMETIMES first shifts suprisinly smooth and it fell SO GOOD. (It feel like slicing through butter)

I know, if I had the funds I would do a complete transmission "tune up." (clutch, throw out bearing, flywheel, etc).

Before I forget, How long would you say the job would take?

Thanks

Those were my symptoms. One more test to add: if you can easily shift through all the gears with the engine off, that too points to the slave.

OK good. I can because my Hand Brake does not work so I have to shift it to first when I park, and I can do all that very easily.

GUYS, I just looked underneath. MY GOODNESS. The transmission is almost BLACK. Is this a sign of leaking. I looked at my resoviour and it is full!

Every time i've bought a slave cylinder it's came with a new throwout bearing.
