I have 2 retards for neighbors

That is why I couldn't stand to buy a house in the city, if some else's crap didn't irritate me my crap would irritate someone else. To me it would be a lose-lose either way.

#1 is mentally ill. End of story.
#2 may be an ass but I don't see anythign wrong with what he built. I personally would have started with a slab... but I guess if you like dirt floors on your shop, that one isn't bad. Looks OK from the outside and his yard doesn't look like crap. Unlike Swamprat though, the song with the video pissed me off. People with attitudes like that end up shot or in jail. We have a bunch of backwoods rednecks up here that feel they should be able to live however they want. Fine, if you are out in the woods, I have no problem if your place looks like a dumpster. Live whthin 100' me and your place looks like that, we are going to have problems. Your neighbor did a pretty nice job though. Kind of light on electricity but at least it doesn't look bad. Be glad he didn't side it with tin and Tyvec. That is what you would see up here. Maybe a blue tarp or two to top it off!

.It doesn't "fit" with the rest of the homes.

And just who are you to decide if it fits with the nieghborhood? My gawd next thing your goona be complaining about is that the color of the shop doesnt match the rest of the neighborhood.

Dealt with something simmilar to this at our last job-site. End result is if you dont like whats being done on that property you shoulda bought it yourself when it was up for sale.

Really? So, if the neighbors set up a meth lab, you would be OK with that?

A neighborhood is quite a lot more than a collection of individual houses.

I think it can go quite a bit overboard when associations try to make every house look exactly the same, but "covenants" like that are disclosed when the house is sold, and it's one of the variables. It's why I live in an older neighborhood and not in a tract.

But to say "I own the property and can do whatever the heck I want" is just wrong. No, you can't. You never have been able to.

I don't see why you have a problem with the pole barn. It's their property and they have the right to put it up. Just my .02 though.

maybe I worded that wrong. A pole barn is alot different than a meth lab. I think we both know that.

I'll can see having issues when its putting peoples saftey at risk like the meth lab concept would. Also can understand the issues with the ammount of noise made late at night.

But griping about something like a shop? gimmee a break

thats the point i keep coming back to, if there breakin a noise ordinance at night, then call the cops, if yall would just ignore them then theyd quit tryin to get a rise out of u, i know when people have a problem with me sometimes i like to provoke that for my enjoyment

The people who lived behind us had 2 White Shepherds. The husband ended up having a heart attack and he was in hospital for nearly a year before he died, and she spent all her time with him. They left the patio door open for the dogs to go inside and out whenever they wanted. However, one dog was male and the other was female, and neither were fixed. so they got busy, and long story short, they ended up with 8 of these dogs, that took over the yard and house. It got to a point when someone was calling bylaw daily. The yard was covered in dog shit, the dogs ended up chewing threw walls, destroyed the house, destroyed the yard, and would bark just about every minute of the day. After she ended up coming home after her husband died, you think that would have stopped. Nope. It stayed like that, to the point where bylaw would wait for her in their truck outside her house, she would drive into the garage, and close the door, then get out of her car, after the garage door was down, and she wouldnt' answer the front door no matter how long they were there. After about 2 years of this one of the dogs ended up chewing threw the fence and got into our yard, and took after me, I called bylaw, the came to our house, and got 6 of the 8 dogs in our backyard, the dogs were put down because they were diseased (because of all the dog shit, everywhere, we used to be outdoor people, and my father prides himself in his yards, it got to the point when we wouldn't' go into the back yard, (even to fix the fence) because we were either going to be attacked by a dog, or if they would leave us alone (for reason's unknown), the back yard smelt like shit, and not mildly either. Eventually, the other two were caught in our yard and were impounded. To which the dogs were sick and they had to "investigate" the situation before the dogs were released. It ended with her being evicted because of the house being a health concern. She was then given the option of having the dogs put down, giving up the dogs, or moving to an area that would be healtey for two dogs that size to live. The house was gutted and it took a good 2 weeks for it to be cleaned up the dog leftovers, and it took about 8 months for it to be rebuilt to a point where it was safe to live in. All of the dog problems lasted for nearly 3 years, and in that time, no one near that house had a good night sleep unless they were a very deep sleeper and could fall asleep before one of the dogs barking fits, the area smelt like dog shit, and we "won" several lawsuits to shut the dogs up, but within a week it would be worse then before. It didn't matter to her how her yard looked, but it decreased the value of everyones homes around it. Aside form the dogs barking (and getting into our yard), she was within her legal rights (aside from health bylaws, as well). Some people get it, and some people don't. The people who don't get it are the people who should be fined and have to suffer, instead of everyone who does it right. ATV's in a small back yard is a noise violation here, even the fart cans on the civics are (although they aren't ticketed all to frequently), it doesn't matter what time of day, there is a decibel rating here and if its higher then what it is, you can be fined. People who let their yard go to hell because they don't want to look after it, and then get offended when someone offers to help them clean it up, or when bylaw is called because its out of control. Grass in Calgary is to be no longer then 8", anything more, you can be find, thats a good start to some problems, but theres still a lot more that needs to be done. Too bad you there isn't a law about owning a big dog on a small lot, (1/4 acer), but they do have a bylaw about owning two many dogs in one home, again, a start. People who get it, are always going to have to suffer by the ones who don't. I'm going to stop here, as this is all starting to seem like a very long run on sentence.

Man you guys are going to make me cry. You're hurting my feelings.:joke:
Let me put it this way. I would love to have a pole barn just like that. How would you like it if you just paid a lot of money for a house and have someone install a mobile home right beside your house and have no say in at all.Thats what happened. He just took it to the extreme and is allowed by zoning. It sucks,I'll piss n moan, the building is up, end of story.
In post #1 I said that he has every right to build his pole barn.I never said that they had no right building what they want on their own property.

the hoarder is just nasty, the pole barn, i know what your talking about "fu" mentality. almost like they do it just to piss you off. why does he need such a big barn anyway? he doesnt have that much stuff.

+1

When my mom bought her new house it was made known to her that it was part of a neighborhood covenant, so there are really strict rules as to what you can and can't do, and what needs to be done for maintenance. In fact, she just had to have the roof redone for that reason. However, she was well aware of it before she bought the house.

i think thats the point he's going after. i can understand, you move into a nice neighborhood, pay a bunch for a decent house and good neighbors... then along comes bubba, puts up his barn, has lawn mower races in the back yard. property value goes down, the neighborhood starts looking a little dumpy. it all goes down hill. maybe its not quite that dramatic... yet.

Bang on! Its just a piss off when someone thinks that just because they don't want to live on a clean property, that everyone else should have the privileged to look at it (or in my old case, smell it too).
