i got offered this for my ranger...

my buddy has one with they same setup and averages 9 mpg on the highway, but it is a lot of fun to drive around in.

Yeah, the guy at work that got 10 drives like there is an egg on the gas pedal. Can't have much fun like that. However, despite the poor mpgs, he is looking at another one right now. This will be the 6th one he has owned if he buys it.

Sent from a Commodore 64 using a 300 baud modem

People rarely trade something good or equal in value to what they want. Be willing to accept a lemon if you take it unless your ranger is worse.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

well i'm sure it has problems, but mine does too.

currently it doesn't even run , i have to helicoil a 2 holes on the intake for the thermostat,

4x4 needs a new diff ( i have it but that's some work)
trans may need new solenoids
may or may not need body bushings...

Turn around and RUN!

I stopped looking at it after I saw the wiring... how much more of it is done that junky? if the wiring is that bad what's the rest of the work he did look like?

15 MPG? You will be lucky to get 8.

I seriously thought about buying one of those and trying to shove a 4.5L 6 cyl PowerStroke in it.

Also, HOLY CRAP who wired that thing? Ray Charles?

I doubt mudseeker could do a job that crappy. And once I came into work to find the left front fender of his truck resting on the tire because he replaced his wheel bearings (87 F250 2wd) and didn't put any grease on them. The inner one seized, welded the race to the spindle, and then broke the spindle off the knuckle.

8 isn't far off of 15...right?

:icon_twisted:

a lot of oil spots on that driveway!

There is something about Broncos... no matter what is in them I have never heard of one getting much more than barely double digits for milage.

It is a fullsize though, it even had an optional I6... your diesel swap options are pretty open.

That thing is probably loaded with bondo being a Michigan Bronco, those things love to rust. I can see the poor bodywork in the pictures, theres a reason they painted it flat black.

I would keep the ranger. I had a 79 bronco that got 8 mpg city or highway or towing it didnt matter. It had 33's on it.

Now..... now you're talking! :headbang:

Too bad the only b2's around here are rusted out...and they want 1000 for them ( basically for parts) or nice ones that are like 2500-4500 and i don't close to that...guess i'll just get the ranger fixed up nice...somethings got to be done to the frame, i know that. sooo much rust. only surface though as i can see no holes..

Run away. With a Holley 750, 6 MPG would be pretty good. Wiring troubles are to be expected. As already said , if that was an example of the upkeep and workmanship..... Concern over MPG, implies daily driver. Get an econobox And, keep your Ranger for a toy, Yah a 34 yr old Ford living in a city built over a salt mine, Run Forrest, run.
