The sloppy garage band that sings "there's a lot to love about you" in Subaru ads irritates me to no end.
It occurred to me that Subaru wants to sell their cars to people with tin ears who won't hear the main bearing knock all their engines make.

I wanted a Subaru until I got a load of the price and found out about the issue with head gaskets letting loose. Seems to be a not so good thing to have on an uncommon engine. More common than a Mazda Rotary but not exactly something you just take to any shop.

In the fall of 1980 we took a 78 Subaru in trade on our first Escort wagon. Subaru used to mount the spare tire on a rack over the top of the engine and the car was so rusty the shock towers had collapsed and were being held in place by the spare- at 2 years old. In the early 2000's we took in another fairly young one with just over 30,000 miles on it with leaky head gaskets and rear main seal. I called the local Subaru dealer-partly because none of my techs wanted to fix it- and they said that was about normal. The sales manager took it to the auction so we didn't have to fix it.
But Consumer Reports still loves them because foreign good, American bad. Who would want a product built by lazy, stupid Americans like us when they could have one built by the people who brought us the Bataan death march?

Try getting the the back plugs on a early 5.4 expedition. Unless you have tiny little hands you arnt gonna.

It was worse the the 302 E150 i had.

Most Transverse V6s you have to pull the intake manifold.
