Just worndering how's everone's lifted ranger is on the road. I have a 97 3.0 5spd 373 gears and 34 swamper tsl's. Im pushing 1800-2000 rpm at 55. It's a job and a half getting it to 55. Is something up with my motor? It seems to run all right. Or is it the 3.0 vs the 34"s.

I'm trying to get the bugs worked out, goin have to drive it for about 2 mounths wile my parents take my daily. (getting there's painted)

You need lower gears! That's your issue. It's overworking that 3.0 and it's revolting. I think a 4.56 is what you need (off memory).

4.56's would be about right.. 4.88's if you don't see much highway use.

but yeah, you're wearing out your motor and trans if you don't regear... you need MOAR GEAR!

dude just regular 33s on a 3.0 with 3.73 is gonna be a pain to get to 55 mow 34 tsl supper swampers those are heavy deffinantly need to regear

I have a 4l so it might be different but I also have 3.73s according to the door sticker..it doesn't feel like too much of a dog. Was doing 65 around a curve on the highway and I thought I was gonna flip though...

What size tire?

gears, gears, gears! i put 33's on my 2.8 BII last week, killed the power/torque! 31's were so-so, but manageable. GOTTA make time to do the 4.0 swap! then i will see what gear i need. im thinkin 4.56 will bring it back to stock performance for you. if you are looking for acceleration and off road performance, the lower the gear the better. the bigger the number, the lower the gear. the lower the gear, the easier it is on the engine and trans, but it also lowers your cruising speed. hope this helps1

3.73's, 31's and it almost scared me the other day, it kicked out the rear with a loud screeching noise taking off at a stoplight. :icon_twisted:

It has NEVER downshifted going up a hill either... :icon_confused:

.....That MIGHT have to do with the fact that you have a V8 stuffed in that sumbitch.

LOL.

I've seen some members sigs that say they are using Tapatalk 2. I wonder if it's any different? It sure would be swell if you could rep in Tapatalk as well.
