New to the forums! Texas mom working on a 93 Ranger for a soon-to-be driving teenage son. I bought The Danger Ranger (what we've been calling it until I can convince him to call it the Jolly Ranger and let me paint a pirate flag on the side) from a lady that couldn't get it to start anymore. I managed to get it started and drove it home. She needs some work but it'll be a great project truck for me and the boy.

Welcome from corpus!!

Nice thing about those Texas Trucks is that they don't rust like they do up here.

Welcome to TRS...

Howdy & welcome!
South Texas bred & born, next to the real King Ranch (no not one of these dolled up "cadillac" pickups).
Nothing brings back memories like that smell of good country air: ei stockyard bullshit & oil\chem refineries!
Moved to a different country (well a different state, ha) & a cooler clime several decades ago,
but I'll die with people still giving me strange looks for my drawl.

Make the boy turn the wrenches & earn his "new" truck;
he'll appreciate it more, learn some things, & be less likely to wreck it.

Welcome from corpus!!

Thanks, neighbor!!

I've heard about the rust up that way but luckily I've never seen it first hand. Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks! He helps sometimes with some of the more basic aspects (oil changes, plugs, wires) but I can't have him out there too much until we get his medical condition more under control (recently diagnosed Chron's and having flare-ups frequently). I made one of his older brothers be with me constantly for his little tonka toy car, boy still wrecks it - lol . In fact, he just wrecked it recently and spent the weekend with a friend of ours attaching a new hood and bumper, but he does love his little car.

Welcome from Nocona Texas!

our stuff in corpus rusts out. i can see the laguna madre from my porch so i have to deal with rust, non-stop. don't believe that texas vehicles don't rust

That looks like a work truck. What's the back story on it?
Welcome to TRS.

Welcome to the show Texas. I spend some years in San Antonio as a child and in Del Rio when I was in the service.
Awesome name “ Jolly Ranger” with the pirate flag.
You will find mass quantities of information and knowledge here at TRS. These people know their game.

Not really sure. It was used a few times over when I got it. The front was cut out at some point, looks like it may have had emergency lights of some descript and was once painted blue. The factory color was beige-ish, then there was a professional paint job that turned it blue, then someone rattle-canned it black. Not too shabby for a rattler job.

I've got three teenage boys and the youngest is finally coming up on that precious "learn to drive" age. This will be a great project truck for us (mostly me) and for him to learn to drive in.

This seems like a pretty great place. I'm usually more of a lurker, but I'm digging the community here and hoping to meet some friends while I get the truck back up to spec.

Ha, I'm sure in certain zones they do. But I can definitely see the difference between our rust and rust from up north and on the seaboard.

Corpus has her own share of salt to reckon with for sure.

we usually go to your town to buy vehicles because vehicles are a lot cleaner there, than here. my uncle bought my little red ranger in san antonio two years ago
