How to prevent exhaust leak - new cats

sorry to hear about all that nonsense, and thank you for informing us about the problems.
I can't find a Y-pipe for my 2000 with a 3.0. it has the flange but not the cats.

Thanks!

Good luck with your search! Might be cheaper to learn how to weld. Heh.

Finally gave up and took the Ranger to a muffler shop: Meineke.

They also could NOT fit the RockAuto cats directly on. I left the truck overnight for an "estimate". When I called the next morning they had already cut the exhaust before I could stop them. Dirty dogs. I ended up paying almost a $1,000 bucks for them to install the Davico's from RockAuto.
If Meineke had not already cut the dang thing I would have returned it and tried another brand. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong when I attempted to mount the cats. That's why I took it to the "experts".

You're better than me. If I left my vehicle for a quote and I came back to a repair bill, I'd be getting come free work. I only authorized a quote, no more. They could either give me the work or return it to stock and pay for the new parts that they damaged.

That kind of stuff.is why I don't trust shops. Regrettably I still have to use them for certain things.like that. I'm not equipped for cutting bending and welding exhaust. Leave that for people with tools and a lift. But they better not do anything without authorization.

I totally agree with this sentiment.

But I'm pushing 70 and the aggravation of fighting with them just wasn't worth it to me.

Don't get me wrong, a grand is a chunk of change!

Just moving on from my mistake.

He got screwed too... thought it would take him 6 hours labor and it took em 16. So there's that.

Nothing wrong with that. One's time becomes a lot more valuable as life's odometer starts getting on up there.

Kudos on the reverse screwing, too. What goes around comes around.
