How Strong is The Dana35 TTB REALLY???

You have to keep in mind that there are certain weaknesses to the D35. For example, the u-joint caps have a tendency to work their way out of the shafts, thus shattering them. Another fault is the weak hubs.

Tack weld the caps on and get Warn 37780 hubs and you shouldnt have many problems with that front end.

Keep your inner/outer nuts tightened as well. They can work loose w/ larger mud tires.

i know about the sideways stability, a bogger would be worse tho IMO. but i dont plan to go fast with them, just crawl along thru some sloppy stuff, thinking 4lo 2nd gear if i hav the power for it. when i take my current tire/wheel combo off ill recheck the inner/outer spindle nuts to be sure theyre still tight. and when these MM hubs break ill have a set of WARN hubs in the mail. :icon_thumby:

i definatly wont be riding these on the road, well maybe one time, lol. just primarily around at a local mudhole area that ill trailer it to just in case it breaks. im anxious to see how it does.

If you're trailering it around then you'll be fine. Mine is a dd so I check everything constantly.

I dunno... Something tells me the mud you're looking to get into, those tires are gonna be too small for it lol. :icon_surprised:

i was thinking that too, it does have a bottom but idk if i can reach it with those little tires. they wont provide much if any floatation to get up on top.:dunno:

but believe it or not but i actually drove them down the hard road today about 1/4 mile and above 10mph they are smooth as glass just hav a bogger-type roar. fastest i got was 35mph because idk wat the max speed of a tractor tire is and i dont want to put a fender/bedside on my truck. they are very rough at 5mph and in reverse they are worse. :icon_thumby:

That thing looks pretty cool!!!
All hell, go tear it up!!!

thanx for the compliments. ill try and get somebody there with a good cell phone to take some vids, if all goes well. :icon_thumby:

PS- i forgot to mention that while i was installing the new tires i went ahead and checked the spindle nuts. sure enough they had loosened up and on the lock washer.

Tighten the outer spindle locknuts to around 225-250ft-lbs or so. Should put an end to them loosening.

I would think those tires could sustain 50, maybe even 60 MPH or so if you're offroad. They'd probably heat up real quick if you tried to go that fast for any length of time on pavement though.

yea idk about the top speed, im not willing to gamble with them to see when theyd fly apart. i figured they are not designed to go over 20mph since they are made for TRACTOR use.

IDK how strong they are but i can tell you this i can break a set of aftermarket hubs any brand in about 5 min mile markers last me about 500 ft. ive been threw 4 pairs warn 2 pairs so i took my factory hubs a part and welded everything solid i can break the hubs nor the axles and i drive 80 on the interstate 3 or 400 miles alot,
