How Strong is The Dana35 TTB REALLY???

You know when you lock your front tire against a rock or something solid with a m/t tires and its so slick the back tires want to spin it breaks the hubs so if you take ur factory hubs apart and weld the spline gears togather there very strong but you can unlock them... i came up with it when every time i went really 4 wheelin i had to be drug out in 2 wheel drive. that was a brand new warn hub that cost 299.00 that hub didnt make it 1/4 mile i came up to a rock face in 4 low thats all it had so i made my own and so far for about six mounths i cant break them...

yea idk about the top speed, im not willing to gamble with them to see when theyd fly apart. i figured they are not designed to go over 20mph since they are made for TRACTOR use.

I doubt garden tractors even go that fast.

16" would be for the front of a normal tractor at best, which would be a waste because they are non powered in that small of a rim.

My ol' Allis-Chalmers C is tiny by todays standards and it runs 24" rear rims.

Or just slap the Jeep hubs I already mentioned earlier in this thread on it. They don't break like the hub in your picture.

yea if you search 8-16 tractor tires it brings up tires for the FRONT of a much bigger tractor so idk about the max speed rating of them or the speed of the larger tractors. our little KUBOTA that ahs these tires ont he rear goes about 15mph wide open in high gear.

92stx ranger, correct me if im worng but arent factory/OEM hubs the auto locking junkers that are always messed up? if you weld up the gears inside how exactly do you unlock them? i understand you can still unlock the t-case but with the hubs welded up the frnt axle will still be turning/locked to the wheels. :icon_confused:

There always locked i live way up a dirt road factory 4 wheel drives with bfg2 cant get here theres 4 ft mud holes rock faces ruts 2 and 3 ft deep so i use 4 wheel drive everytime i leave and come back and to top it off its straight up and down but i will try the jeep hubs. im runing 4.56 with and air locker in rear and lockrite in front with the d35 and 8.8 in rear so i have a lot of torque

All yea the hubs on a 92 ranger are the auto hubs the only rangers that came with man hubs are rangers with the d28 like bronco 2s with little axles and some d35s had little axles but thats because you really have d28 stuff inside the axle.

Many D35s came with manual hubs, not just D28s.

having that lockrite LOCKER is probably why your breaking hubs so easily. if you had a limited slip or an open diff in the front, though youd loose some traction, itd take alot of stress off your axles and hubs. when that one tires bites hard on something and the other one has nothing to grab all the power sent to the front end is now sent to the one with the most traction effectively doubleing the regular torque sent to that wheel. whereas a open diff it would go to the one with the least amount of traction, saving alot of stress on the axles and hubs.:icon_thumby:

Anything with a 16" rear tire is far, far lighter than a Ranger.

My image search turned up everything from lawn mowers to old steel wheeled tractors to a 1486 puller.

It wouldn't surpise me if some of the older compact tractors ran them, but again they are probably lighter than a Ranger as well. Most of the newer ones run a wider tire.

Yea our older kubota compact tractor takes these. When I searched awhile back it pulled up as some tractors fronts.

I agree our tractor is way lighter then my ranger, but the tires aren't squatted down with the truck on them.

so its better not to have locker in the front because of this?

All depends on how you drive. If you drive it like an animal, then you certainly are more likely to break things. Without a locker though, you're also going to need more speed & momentum to get up stuff, so running without it could be counterproductive.
I run a locker in mine with 35" tires and have never had any issues. However I also don't just mash the gas pedal to the floor any time there's a break in traction.

If everything else on yours is holding up OK with your welded-up hubs (axle shafts, u-joints, etc.), I doubt anything would change if you put the Jeep hubs on (other than you'll be able to unlock it again).

ok ill get a new carrier baring and take it out most of the time im in low range im new rough i dont goose it but ill try the other hubs i did it my way because i could not keep the others togather very long
