There seems to be ALOT of people around making me a offer for $50 for my 1983 Ranger short bed "parked" parts truck....they'll even come and pick it up.

I was talking to a friend, and he says they usually hold scrap in the field until the scrap prices get high in January and sell.

Back in the early 90's My dad got $100 for scraping out his cars, (a dodge Volarie with a 318 was one of them. :( )

So I am wondering what is a fair salvage yard price for my truck?

Here in CT they are paying 8 Cents a pound for cars. 3000 lbs will get you $240 Take out the Batt. $8.00 and the cat about $40.

I'll give you $0.50 if you deliver it.

i took 99 sable to the scrapyard a couple days ago they gave me 290 for it. The 3.0 did not like towing it there it weigh more than my truck.:icon_rofl:

i call them "scrap metal vultures." around here, they drive drive around looking for anything steel that they can get. i was changing the exhaust on my F150 and withing 15 minutes, a vulture pulled up and offered to "take it off my hands." tried to convince me i didn't need it when i said no. damn scum, no means no.

I also noticed him trying to look into my back yard to see if there was more (i have a trailer i'm loading up). I politely told him to get off my property, and hid my trailer a little more behind my shed.

your rig is worth a lot more than $50.

I heard the local steel recyclers here in WA state are getting close to 200 bucks a ton, so if a scrapper offers you 100 bucks for your 1.5 ton rig, he's gonna scrap it for close to 300.

I bought my running, with title B2 for 200 bucks tho, so if its just a scrap pile for recycle, then 100 bucks isnt out of line, but ya, 50 is too low.

I've been getting $140/ton. Scrapped an 82 Bronco and an 89 Crown Vic that were both missing the engines, got about $200 each.

The local scrapper here must be a rip off! They're paying C$55.00 a metric ton, and you have to remove the tank and tires. Thankfully another just opened up, paying C$75.00 a vehicle, remove nothing. 1st load I took to the first scrapper was a ranger and a sprint, got C$110.00. 2nd load went to the other got C$150. I did pull the cats but don't know where to sell them or what they are worth.

Factory Ford cats here in CT bring in about $80 for both. Aftermarket ones about $8

so thats why i cant find parts cars for next to nothing anymore.... the things i would love to pull out of one of those before they scrap them...

Ouch, that sucks. The guy I go to just requires that you have holes punched in the tranny pan and gas tank. You can load vehicles full of trash, tires, whatever and it doesn't matter.
