I got a Phreilend hidden camera for $3 but it was missing the micro SD card. I know some of ya'll have dash cams and might be able to tell me if I need a bigger SD card or if a 16gb will be enough. I know16gb is plenty of space for like a camera for pictures but I didn't know how much space videos would take up. This would be used once in a while for 10 hours or so at a time. Just want some input on if I should get the $20 card or the $5 card or if anyone has one of these and if they are any good. The video online of this exact product was pretty good picture quality and easy to use. Mine was just missing the SD card and without the SD card it won't do anything.

Depends on frame rate and resolution of the video. I was playing with one of my go pros this weekend and at 1080p and 30 FPS, I think a 32gb card was good for over 2 hrs of video.

Also make sure you get a card with fast transfer rates. Otherwise, problems may occur. Try to get class 10 or above. I had trouble with a lower grade card. It seemed to work for recording. But when I connected the camera to the computer to download, it corrupted the card and I lost everything. So a fast card and remove it from the camera for downloading was my lesson learned.

Depends on video quality and frame rate.

32g is cheap enough that is my new minimum for a camera card.

My gut based on my 1080 gopro experiance says go 64g and it might not be enough.

My Hero2 fills a card a lot slower than my Hero5.

@Jim Oaks would probably be the most qualified to answer this question since he has done a lot of video with the Loan Ranger and some TRS meets. Basically, anyone who has done the Youtube content creator thing can tell you what works best.

The answer is above “it depends”.

Resolution determines file size per image. Frame rate determines how many images per second of video recording. Multiply it out and determine how much memory per x minutes or hours of recording. Order a card that meets your needs and conforms to the specs for the camera you are actually using. On some cameras you can choose different resolutions and/or frame rates. So it not only varies by camera, but also by what settings you choose when using the camera.

True but my original answer still stands as well. After the questions and answers are all hashed out, someone like Jim will best be able to give the best answers as to what will work, what wont, and what one can get away with.

Ok thanks guys. A new one comes with a 128gb card, I just haven't had a chance to mess with one of these and I figured someone on here would know whats good and whats not good. I think I will just look around at home because I think I have a 32gb from a phone just to see if the thing even works. Like I said I got it for $3 from a store that sells strictly Amazon return items. So it may be bad from the get go. Everything else I bought from there has worked just fine. Got a TON of killer deals. Gotta go to this store if anyone is near the Wooster area in Ohio. Store is called "Dollar1". for those interested.

Sorry. I kinda zoomed in on answering the original question.

I think if I can't find one at home I am just going to get the 64gb class 10 sd card. Based on the specs on Ebay it should be able to handle 72 hours of video.

At 1080P I would color that extremely optimistic...
