How much mileage is too much?

I need to get a pickup and I found a Ranger that might do the trick, but, it has 203,000 miles on it.
The seller (dealer) wants $3700 for it - Kelly Blue Book is around$3900. It's a 2002 4 DOOR EXTENDED CAB EDGE PLUS XLT 3.0L V6 Automatic.
It's in very nice cosmetic condition. Seems to run well and no obvious issues with it. By the condition of it inside and outside, it seems that the previous owner took decent care of his vehicle.
I ran a Carfax report and it came up clean - no accidents, regular maintenance.
I've never owned a pickup before and don't know if this is too risky with such high mileage.
Any opinions sure would be appreciated.

That is a lot of miles for the price to be honest. Even for a 2002...it's been on the road since 01 or 02 so it's about ten years old.

I think you can do better for the money in my opinion.

^^What he said...that is alot of miles for a 2002. Look elsewhere, Bro. YOu can find a much lower milage truck for a great price. I see them all the time near me.

That it a a lot of mileage for that price.
On the other hand, next month my truck will roll over 400k mi, and its still a solid and dependable truck. But it was meticulously maintained by the original owner, I'm 2nd owner.
That kind of mileage is nothing for the truck, but its not worth that much.

Extremely common. Almost every 98+ extended cab Ranger I've seen has them. I was lucky to find my '06 2 door extended cab. It was the only one I could find when I was truck shopping.

Depends on the region. I was lucky to find my four door around here when I bought it.

i've seen them called 3 doors.

2 doors + 2 1/2 doors = 3!

First owner registered it as a rental and held it for 1 year. The second owner registered commercial. Averaged 20K miles/year.

dont buy high mileage trucks with auto trans'. especially if the truck was rented out for a little while. rental cars usually have difficult lives.

Yeah, back away from this deal. I realize regions are different, but I bought my 96 XLT 4.0 4X4 Supercab with 107,000 miles for $2700. Incidentally, I sold it for $3,000 about 22 months later.

Deals can be had if you are patient.
