How many Flasher relays?

Hi there, I own a 94 4.0 ranger.

Months ago my hazard lights stopped working but turn signals were fine, and I remember that I needed a new flasher relay. From what I remember this year/model has a hazard lights relay and a turn signal relay.

Now when I turn on my hazard lights I feel the relay clicking under the steering wheel (So I guess thats the hazrds relay).


If that's right, where is the relay for the turn signals? I heard something about it being under the ash tray. But whatever I had there looked different, it was just hanging from some wires...

If someone could tell me where is the relay for the turn signals it would be great... extra points if you have a photo

This is close as I could find and it took me a while to find it, for 93-94
Seems to be both the signals and flashers are in the fuse box (lower left)

You're in luck, I happen to be working on my dash in my house. This is on a 93 Ranger.

The 2 flashers are exactly opposite each other. The flashers with a shield has a square protrusion that I'm guessing is meant to be pulled with pliers.

So, as per the diagram in the picture, it would be a fuse (#4)?

No. He showed a photo of the front of the fuse panel where one of the flashers resides and another photo of the rear of the fuse panel where the other flasher resides. Both round. Looks like one has a metal can and the other is plastic with the little square protrusion.

I totally missed that one... I thought it was the same one but seen from underneath... ehich makes no sense.

Are they the same part number? As in, could I swap them to see if my turn signals come back to life?

I just looked on rock auto and Advance Auto websites and it appears that they are identical

The only problem I see with putting the metal one in place of the plastic one is it will be difficult to pull it back out. The plastic shield surrounding the blue flasher does come off. I will probably leave it off mine when I put it back together.
Here is a couple more pics of the shield. It was a pain to get off and I had the wiring on my bench. I suspect it would be near impossible to remove in site. There are to catches to depress in order to remove the shield. Hope the pics are clear enough to see what I'm talking about.

How did you take the whole thing out?

There's the chance that this flasher is not my problem...

Any idea how I could make sure before I pull everything out?

You don’t have to remove the whole fuse block. The flashers just plug in like fuses

I believe one is on the back side that you can't get to without pulling the block :/
