so wait, are you saying that even with my six inch lift kit and extreme drop pitman arm i couldn get my steering aligned with say 8inch xj lift coils which would probably compress down to about 6.5 to 7 inches of lift.

Take a read through this article.
Your steering has to be pretty much dead-perfect if you want to run softer coils. The extreme drop pitman arm actually has a true drop of only 4", it's very likely you'll need to lower your suspension to match up with that in order to not have the suspension start acting weird once you put the softer coils in. Fortunately most 6" lift brackets also have a 4" hole available as well (and those few that don't, it's not difficult to drill new holes 2" up from the existing holes).

That's exactly what he's saying. I didn't take his word for it and learned the hard way. Truck was not driveable even at parking lot speeds. I'm at 4" suspension lift now, with a 2.5" body lift. Seems to be about the most practical lift for a TTB truck, if you want awesome flex.
