Hi I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a stock 84 ranger 2wd and was looking to lift it enough to clear 31's on 15 inch rims. How big of lift would I need and would I need body and suspension or what? Any help would be great, thanks in advance!

4" should do it, as a 4x2 is 2" shorter than a 4x4, and '31's didn't clear until the 2nd gen Rangers in '89 on a 4x4 (and that's tight...). If you want to do it on the cheap, put 1" of washers under the coils and shackles in the back and a 2" body lift and you should be good to go.

I bought my 83 4x4 Ranger in 85 with only about 3,400 mile on it. I put 31's on it and there was no issues at all. My stock 99 Ranger 2wd sat very high from the factory. I added 31's right away with no issues. Post a photo of your truck. I do know that some trucks stock from the factory sat higher or lower than other trucks of the same make. Right after I bought my 99 Ranger new in July off 99 I parked it next to my buddies 1998 Ranger 2wd and he thought I had already done a lift on it since my truck sat much higher than his did.
