Hmm.. patching my oil pan.

Would it be possible to patch my oil pan using thin sheets of tin, JB welded to the outside of the pan? Or would the oil that collects inside of this section overheat and cause a fire issue? I would keep it as flush to the pan as possible.

How did you punch a hole in it?

I wouldn't try patching it, as a loss of oil can wreck havoc on a motor if your patch were to leak...

If anything, I use would Seal All

I didn't punch a hole in it, it just rusted out. It leaks all the time I just keep filling it up.

Yep, but I don't have the tools or ability to put it on and a shop will charge me about 300+ to do it.

I'm thinkin about selling it. I paid about 130ish for the pan and gasket, I say selling it for 80 with the gasket would be a great deal for someone.

Kinda pisses me off though, I'm loosing money on that deal.

I have to say I have never heard of an oil pan rusting out, but then again everything I have ever owned leaked oil and it covered the pan making it pretty hard to rust

Koda, I've seen that repair done to an auto trans, and it did not fail, if your in a bind and have good metal on each side of the hole you can do it but keep an eye on it. And save up so you can get the pan done properly or see if a collage with an auto program could do it.
