FYI: Granatelli Motor Sports has recently released (Nov 08) a new coil pack and spark plug wire sets for late model (SOHC) 4.0L Rangers (etc). The coil pack is one of their ProSeries, 60k (that's 60,000 volts!). The wires, called by MPG Plus are, GET THIS: 0 (zero) ohms, WITH NO RFI! With all other HIPO wires that I know of, to get zero ohms you will disrupt your OBD II system as well as your stereo; or you get RFI with "near" zero ohms. The coil covers '05 thru '09 4.0's, but the wires go way back. For you guys with '04 and earlier 4.0s, look to a site called "Performance Distributors," for their Screamin Demon Coil pack. It is rated at 45k, and goes back to '90 models. Lastly, BBK tells me they are developing a new throttle body for late model 4.0 Rangers (the mustang's TB is different), and is due out late this summer. A local national drag racer (does NOT want his name given due to endorsement contracts, but runs NHRA Pro Stock) says to use the newest "open design" sparks plugs with these coils (Bosch IR Fusion, EA-3, etc) as the open spark does a much better job of fuel ignition, if you have a strong enough coil and wires. LUCK!:yahoo:

probably bs the stock ignition system seems good enough already why mess with a good thing, the wires sound sweet but the stock plugs work great. And whats more spark do to a stock engine nothing, but burn a hole in your wallet!

I guess if I was stuck with a 3.0, I would be bitter too.

i call :bsflag: on the 0 ohm wires. Its an impossibility for a wire or any other copper electrical conductor to have 0 ohms of resistance let alone a 2 foot plug wires with crimped on terminal ends. hell do this, touch th leads of your multimeter together. odd's are that just the wires on the meter and the circuit boards is in the half ohm range. maybe granatelli's wires dispute ohms law all together and use osmosis to get the spark to the plug not a wire?

They use a new wireless technology by using the magnetic fields to transmit the electrical energy, the same way a wireless phone uses radio waves, haven't you heard??:secret::secret:

Unless they have come up with a new room temperature superconductor.

With Today's technology there isn't such a thing as a electrical wire that as zero ohms.

It can be 1/4 of inch long and its still going to have some resistance. It can be made out of pure gold, and its still going to have resistance.

Its Possible that its made out of carbon nanotubes with silly low resistance. but its Still going to have resistance. :bsflag:

I think the wires might be true... I mean I just got friction removing oil for my engine :D Definite B.S. on the 0 ohm resistance...

not to mention about $1000 a plug wire.

Okay, okay. I also took physics and electrical engr in college. All I reported is what they claim and advertise. Speaking of which, if you are all so sure of yourselves, why don't you become rich and sue GMS? No? How about contacting them for data to substanuate their claim? Too busy? Well, damn, aren't you willing to do something realistic to substanuate YOUR claims? I, myself, am assuming that since the standard in the auto industry is to measure ohm resistance per foot of length, they were able to achieve a reading classed by SAE as insignificant, hence the "zero".:icon_confused:

still impossible. you would even have slight (very slight) resistance if it was transmitted wirelessly from the coil pack to the plug.

For whatever it's worth: I just called Granatelli Motor Sports (1-805-486-6644) telling them everyone's doubts. The Tech was emphatic, that they are zero ohm per foot. Give them a call and argue your case with them. By the way, GMS does not manufacture these wires; they are made for them to their specs by a company called Microtech Automotive Industries, 1-800-688-1588. Have fun!

Don’t ever believe dyno results that a manufacturer or aftermarket vender publishes on a product they sell. Don’t ever believe dyno results that you read in a magazine. Running a Ford EFI controlled engine on a dyno will not provide accurate results unless the operator knows how the EFI program works. There are only a hand full of people in the world that truly understand it, and even fewer people that can run a dyno properly. Dyno’ing a Ford EFI controlled engine is usually only a cool magic trick.

Kalecoauto

Did you get in on the blinker fluid also?

I looked up what SAE classifies as insignificant or No resistance, its under .99 ohms or less than one. That does not mean NO ohms. is just means that by automotive standards it doesnt matter and is classified as none. And thats per foot too, so i'd say the wires have 2-3 ohms of resistance min. On the otherhand in JR.Granatelli is known in the aftermarket and the mustang community as a lier a theif and for making junk. go do a search for JR.Granatelli and see what pops up from the corral.net and others. :thefinger:
