Hi-lift mounting

DO NOT put it on your hood for any reason... I don't care what you say about how strong mounts can be, that jack will become a nasty projectile that is going to come straight at you and/or your passengers in an accident, having it on the hood is a hazard.

I'd rather see it mounted to the inside bed skirt ON THE PASSENGER SIDE
(as indicated above by Grey_04)

Why the passenger side? I don't like the idea of having to stand alongside the DRIVERS side of my bed on the road fighting to get my jack loose....

and to add if it becomes a projectile it won't slam the driver in the back of the head as quick.

brayd has his mounted under the passenger side bedrail, check out his thread in the under construction section.

Thats about the last place I'd mount anything....rust, departure angle, easy of getting to once needed, knee knocker, I could go on.

As mentioned, inside the box either along the passenger side (for weight distribution and AllanD's reason) or across the front of the box.

I mounted mine like this:

wahlstrom1, that's a pretty cool idea it's self like the bed bars

Thanks, guys for the honest advice. Now with your advice.. I can do a few things…I can raise up my rear hitch buy at least 2 inches..or I can get another one of the Hi-Lift mounts made up with an elevated height and that will raise up the Hi-Lift some more…or I can use the front receiver hitch and that sits up high enough as it is…..or I can go ahead and mount it in the bed as several of you have said. I just did not want to drill any holes in the bed if I did not have to. Another idea you guys came up was with the spare tire carrier…have the handle on the carrier modified (custom made)to carry the Hi-Lift and that sounds great as well. Back to drawing board and I will decide later this month as what to do!!! And as for those who say jacks can be dangerous…you are right. I have never had to use one of these before and I will read and re-read the instructions several times if I ever do need to use it!!! The ide of mounting it the bed on the right said is a good idea as well (safety issuses being on the side of the road as stated bu you guys).

Thanks for all the advice, guys!!!!

Here is a shot of the front of my Ranger and you can see the front receiver hitch (with reese cover). I can add it here and it will be up higher.... but, I was wondering about wind drag......

yeah, i dont like the reese hitch mount idea, seems like you'd hit it on something. not to mention, it looks like your inviting someone to F with it.

i like the bed mount idea though

More options to think about, guys!!!! Maybe the truck bed after all, or I will look into checking out a mount kit for the bed and and see about having the handle for the spare time mount being modified to bolt the jack it to the handle. Always something...ya know??? lol
