hey v6 owners... where is your temp gauge during summer?

wildbill what % is that one the gauge?

IDK, I have an actual manual gauge installed. So it gives me true temp readings unlike the idiot light and gauges in the dash. From experience with an 84 Ranger, I'd say probably about mid way to 3/4 of the way up the idiot gauge in the dash would be the normal area.

My 87 2.9 in my Bronco II, with a mechanical temp gauge sits between 190-200* even on 100*f days. Only time it goes above that is if i have been driving without shutting it off for a couple hours or i have the A/C on (which i rarely do).

Should add that i am running a flex fan.

good idea about the fan clutch... I'm going to check it tomorrow a.m. it is an easy fix... I changed it before maybe 5 years ago... AutoZone has 2 different ones a regular one and a super cool version for $30 more... besides price, what is the difference in the 2? thanks, Johnny
I'm betting that's the problem. Sounds like what my El Camino was doing before I changed the clutch. Did you buy the one you changed out at Autozone, O'Reilly, etc.? If so, most of the chain stores have a lifetime warranty on fan clutches.
