Hey Ford!!! Screw you guys!!!!

I was trying to talk my wife into an edge to replace the escape but shes hung up on a damn subaru.

She aint parkin it in my driveway.
The wife wants a newer wrx or sti..... I dont want anything to do with it.... I would rather get her a 94 GC8 and put a EJ257 and a 6 speed manual in for her.

Is this engine similar to my 1.6 feista? Im now at 32,000 miles and its paid off... wondering if the best financial move would be to sell since its clean and low mile and runs great? I still need another tiny great gas mileage car though... opinion sir ford tech master certified king?

I will never work on the feista... like ever. Except oil and brakes.

The 1.5 and 1.6 are essentially the same engine. The 1.5 has a slightly more sensible/less complexicated CAC system on the Ecoboost.

Ford must know that the Sigma engines are garbage though, they killed them for 2020.

At this point I'd take the Subaru.

I'm so pissed off at Ford right now I want to throw a 4.3 in my Ranger.
I tried to talk her into a gladiator.....but fat chance of that.
I have been trying to talk mine into a Wrangler or 4Runner.

I don’t like driving with my knee on the dash and the Edge gets high centered in snow easily.
She did say something about a wrangler....itd be better then a subaru for sure. But eh.

I think technically they have two cousins, if not direct siblings of the Vulcan. There's the shop v6, and then I think they made a V8 and possibly one other motor out of the Vulcan as well.

Somebody around these parts once swore that the rear or front wheel drive Vulcan 3L shares a bellhousing pattern with the 3.8, but I honestly have no idea.
Other way around, the FWD 3.8 shares the bell housing pattern with the 3.0- so, Ford could swap between 3.0 and 3.8 in Windstars as demand warranted. I think I should have done a stroked (4.2 crank), supercharged (T-bird s/c) Essex instead of 5.0, but 20/20 hindsight there.

RWD 3.8 has same bell housing as 5.0 Windsor.

The SHO V8 is more of a cousin to the Duratech 25 V6 than anything else.

Modbox makes kit to put the T-bird supercharger on a 4.0 SoHC if you want to hot rod your Ranger.

Buy a escort.

FWIW, my 2013 Focus (new era Escort) is at the dealer right now getting the DSP6 fixed under the TSB. It's at 104k miles and has had symptoms since I bought it at about 25k.

Bookmarked this for bellhousings

Actually..... Why don't we have a bellhousing chart around these parts??

Also. Have one already for my 2011, just need to finish the 88 to install it🤘🏿

only the front wheel drive version of the 3.8 has a Vulcan bell pattern.

edit: I should have read more posts before posting

The 3.8 s/c is curious to me. I was warned against it as a swap candidate over head issues, so I stuck with the 2.9.

.....don't follow that logic

Dakota comes back next year.

Rumor has it pentastar v6 or fiat 2.0 turbo, 6 speed manual, starting mid $20s.

Sign me the **** up.

The FWD 3.8 (found in Taurus and Windstar among other vehicles) was prone to head gasket failure.

I think they all did. I think the 4.2's did too.

Didn't they have 4.2's in vans too? And don't forget there was a 3.9 too...

RWD version has a SBF bellhousing pattern BTW. The trans in my Ranger was originally behind a 4.2 in a '04 F-150.
