I have a 94 ranger 4x4 4.0l stick shift.
Doing my fall walk around Saturday checking lights and found that my hazard lights in the rear ONLY are not working the front are flashing.
I do have red clear amber lenses in the rear.
The turn signals work fine.
I know that it could be a broken wire and or a bad connection but where can I start looking.
Please keep in mind I'm 62 years old and working on asphalt on the side of the road.
It is my daily driver so I can't down the truck to work on it.
Thank you for your help.

The turnsignals and the hazards use the same wires and the same bulbs. It gets switched around in the hazard/turnsignal switch. The flasher is common to the front and the rear. So it's got to be the hazard/turn switch. Take the hazard button and turn it on and off rapidly about 10 times,, and then see if they start working. Sometimes the switch gets dirt in it.

Thank you I will try that but if it does not work could I use compressed air?
I've not had the steering column apart and do not want to damage anything.

You could try an electronic spray cleaner. Believe me, you want to stay out of the column unless you really have to get in there. Maybe your model is easier though.

I agree with just cycling the switch... on my '97 every now and then my turn signals don't work but pushing the hazard button a handful of times and sometimes pushing it sideways while cycling helps... I need to look into my '90 as the turn signals don't work right but I think on that it's the flasher...

Thank all of you for the help.
Using franklin2 suggestion I tryed it and with great enthusiasm and it worked!
I pushed the the hazard button multiple times with the the key off and than turned the key on and checked and they were working.
Again thank you all.

I love it when something dumb works!
