I have a 1988 ranger 2wd that originally had a 2.0 and I rebuilt a 1977 pinto 2.3 for it. I used a 1994 2.3 roller cam and follower setup, ported head, Holley 5200 carb and 1994 ranger header. I also deleted the egr and ditched the air pump and all emissions. Truck runs good except for a hesitation above idle. From idle it is fine. Seems to run better with timing advanced. Currently set at 12 degrees btc.
Thanks for any help.

Hesitates when you stomp it as you are going down the road? If so, can you adjust the accelerator pump for a bigger shot? That is a two stage 2 barrel carb correct? I have never worked on one, but can the second stage be adjusted to how quick it comes in? If it's coming in too quick it could cause it to bog also.

Thanks, I'm going to check it out. It has to be carb related. Thanks again
