So... Got into a "fender bender" last night. ACTUALLY, I hit the Accord in front of me DAMN hard!

About a 35mph (brakes locked up) *BANG*.... I thought I had F'd my truck up for GOOD!

Well, after looking over it this morning (once I had LIGHT!) I think I found my problem...

.... If someone could read this and let me know how to fix it, it would be GREATLY appreciated!

So.... That's the damage that occured! Not too bad right?? Just gives me a reason to get my "foglight bumper", new grill and two new headlights! :)

NOW, WITH THAT SAID!!! THERE'S A PROBLEM!!! I DON'T HAVE HEAT AND MY MOTOR IS WHAT MOVED, NOTHING ELSE!

I busted my radiator with the motor's fan?!? Crazy... I didn't MESS UP the motor from running (hell, I even drove it HOME!) Check engine light was on and it NEVER overheated...

What happened is when I HIT, the damn motor mounts broke and I'm trying to figure out if this happens on the regular, if I had faulty motor mounts or WHAT! I've never seen a motor mount break... During a wreck at that!

Look... Entire motor is pushed forward a good 3 inches or so? Probably less honestly... Is this fixable?!

Thanks everyone!

Hows the drivetrain look? If the whole enginr slid then the rest of the drivetrain must have too cuz there cconnected.

After you check the drivetrain I guess get a strong ratchet strap and see if you can pull the engine back into place.

Also.... When I moved the truck, there was fresh oil on the ground???

Where the HELL is that coming from???

Havent had a real good chance to look at it honestly.... I'm at work, so can't access anything at this time!

This is the same truck you are trying to put Mustang seats in??

Ouch... glad no one was hurt. How did the Honda fare?

I would guess that your oil leak is the result of the oilpan hitting a frame crossmember or other component under the truck.

As swynx said, get underneath and check everything from the engine to the rear axle and hangers/ shackles. For the engine to move forward like that it would have to have had some pretty decent force.

You will probably want to look at the tranny mounts and any drive shaft carrier bearings. Not terribly expensive parts but the labor is going to suck.

Make sure that you have no coolant leaks and double check all hoses and wires as they were probably strssed as well.

Good luck!

AJ

Do you really care where this was sent from?

Yeasir... Just got the passenger in right now.

I REALLY, REALLY HOPE SO!!!

It LITERALLY broke my two motor mounts!!! Lol

HONESTLY, I REALLY think the only thing that happened, is the damn motor mounts BROKE! Lol, no BS, and I'm praying on the oil pan

Make sure that you have no coolant leaks and double check all hoses and wires as they were probably stressed as well.

Coolant is gone... Obviously, due to the hole the fan bolt put in the middle of it! Lmao... I don't know how the fan didn't break!!! It's plastic and help up good...

Good luck!

Thanks.... I'll check it all out! Jw others opinions.

You will need both motor mounts, trans mount, possible oil pan (from the oil leak), bumper, corner light, and grille. Without looking, I'd say your driveshaft carrier bearing is ok, as your driveshaft is a slip yoke style. There is a valve near the heater core connections that allows coolant to flow when heat is selected, its a simple vacuum solenoid, check to see if the vacuum line feeding the solenoid broke (they are brittle and don't take much to break) from impact, this would cause a no heat issue along with a no coolant loss...
If you were not at fault, now's a good time to take the insurance $$ and do a 06 front clip swap :icon_thumby:

Oh there's PLENTY of coolant loss! Theres a hole where the fan bolt hit!

Driveshaft stuff seems all fine. What would make you think I broke a tranny mount? As you said, they have a DECENT amount of pull!

I'm not real clear on where that selonoid is, I'm thinking no antifreeze, no heat, right??

I say the trans mount is also ripped cause the motor is sitting that far forward. If the trans is still bolted to the motor, which by driving it home I'm guessing it is, then the trans also shifted forward, meaning the trans mount had to suffer some damage. Follow the heater hose lines from the heater core, its a black plastic looking gizmo (about a foot or less from the firewall). You said the truck didn't overheat when you drove it home, so I was guessing you didn't have a puncture in the rad. Add that to the replacement list...

I was two seconds from my house (always seems to happen that way huh?!) And EVEN left the truck RUNNIN as I was awaiting my summons/ticket!

This was a good 30 minutes. After the hit though, I INSTANTLY realized, "okie doke, my damn heat isn't working, wtf!?" :dunno: Because it was COLD and I ONLY had a thin hoodie on... It sucked.

So I killed it... At the time, it just seemed my bumper was rubbing my tyre/wheel... I saw 0 fluid and couldnt see MUCH cuz it was getting dark!

That said, I had a buddy bring a long bar and I bent it out JUST enough for the wheel to clear and me make it home... And I did, never overheated and the ONLY thing I smelt was RUBBER from the tire slightly rubbing. Lol

That said, I get home and smoke I smell that sweet smell like Clapton, I killed the truck. Again, never overheating AT ALL. It's also 2° here. Haha... Or FEELS it. I got out and looked around under the hood. Noticed my upper rad hose was bent all up in my AC compressor and my bottom one was ALMOST kinked up. I then SAW where the coolant was coming from... A hole, that my fan shaft straight rammed into the center of my radiator! Haha....

THEN, that's when I started noticing something was OFF! It was hard to see at all at night (as I wasn't 100% positive where my motor mounts were!) :icon_rofl:

Anyways... I pushed the truck away from the garage today and found oil AND coolant. This is when I freaked!!! Until I actually got up underneath the truck and LOOKED! It wasn't a LOT of oil though, so THAT'S the only thing that gave me hope. Honestly.

I'm not sure if I need a transmission mount or not?? But I snapped these photos to show talk where the oil was coming from (oil filter is pressed up against a bracket!!!).

MAYBE someone can point to me where the tranny mount is by these pics?? If not, if someone had a picture, that'd be GREAT! Transmissions are NOT my forte. UNLESS its a CVT style transmission! Haha....

I'm actually thinking about just ripping off the bumper (everything else is cosmetic and if u know me, I'm into the whole "fast ass ratrod" thing!!!), bending it back right and bolting it back up. Then leaving everything else as is. I believe it's ONLY the motor mounts, radiator (gives me a chance to get the electric fan!) and MAYBE a transmission mount. Not to mention an oil change/filter.... :thefinger: ----->>> PEEP IT!

It looks to me as everything is ok... Other than a few minor things and the motor being pulled forward. Ha! But no frame damage, NOTHING! Just a cpl motor mounts that seem to be HELLA weak! Stupid Ford. Haha JK

Well, on the bright side, you were getting ready to pull that engine out soon anyway. Pulling the engine out sounds like a good time for new mounts to me.

It DOES but I need this truck to get me around until the other motor is built!!

That said, my entire bed is about to come off, as my flipkit just came in, hopefully that'll make things a little better! At the very least...

Though I actually won't be flipping the axle until I have the motor back in right!

I'm going to Pick n Pull this weekend... Grab me a radiator. Then to the Autoparts Store to grab all my mounts and whatnot. Try and get this thing atleast DRIVABLE for NOW!

YEP! Been there done that a few yrs back..........bought a 96 hit in the nose like that...I was tryin to pull the radiator support out when I climbed under it & seen the trans mount leanin bout 2" too far forward, ended up putting all new mounts in it, replacing the trans crossmember, radiator support, header panel, bumper, grill, & lights.
