Help! Snow is coming! 2001 Edge 4x4

I have a 2001 ford Ranger Edge 4x4 4.0L / V6. It wont shift into 4H or 4L. When the truck is started 4x4 dash indicator lights do not blink. When I turn he in dash switch to 4H nothing happens. No light comes on, it doesn't make the usual clicking sound and it doesn't go into 4H. I could use some ideas on how to fix this quickly.

After searching this site for many , many hours I think I've found 3 different things to check. In dash switch , 4x4 control module , and the shift motor.

What I need now is the location of the control module. Of all the posts that I've read none give an exact location , at least not one that I understand. If anyone could help that would be great. More snow planned for today and I'd like to get my truck ready. Thanks!

It's great that you found some answers through the search engine. If you want a direct answer it's actually better to post in an appropriate forum because many people do not look in the introductions section and they may be the one to provide you with an answer.

Check the forum headings and you should be able to find one for 4x4 information.
