Help removing front brake line, pic inside

Hello all, here is my situation:

Truck is a 94 Mazda B3000

My front brake line rusted out so I replaced it.

Removed the stock line and fittings, and, since I already had some steel line, cut a length of brake line and transferred the fittings over.

Went to a guy and had him flare the lines for me (I showed him the old line and had him flare it the same way).

Reinstalled the brake line and found that it leaks at the end inside the wheel well.

So I assume either the fitting's not tight enough or a bad flare. I try to tighten it more with no luck. It's very hard to turn, as if that's all it'll go on there, but still leaks.

At this point I've assumed it's a bad flare, so I try to loosen it, also with no luck. End up rounding the nut. So now it's stuck and leaking.

The line goes into this block, from which the brake lines for both front wheels originate. Is it a proportioning valve of some kind?

I think my best solution is to remove this block in order to get a vice grip on the nut (there is very little room in the wheel well and I don't think I'd be able to get it while still in there).

So my question how do I go about removing it? Also, if anyone could think of a better solution I am all ears. I would like to avoid cutting it out if I can.

Thank you for any help.

*Just for clarification, in the second pic the line that is removed goes to the pass. wheel, and the line that comes from the master is on the side of the block facing away from the camera.

Also does anyone know if there is a difference between the driver side 4wd vs rwd brake line? i.e. the line that block is connected to, the hydraulic line

Square block is a 1/2" or 13mm...soft line is a 'vice grip'. :) Could be a 7/16" or a 12mm...

Soft line probably a 3/8" or a 10mm. ;) Before it got rounded.

Rounded? Vice grips...clamped with man hands. ;)

If you just put it together it shouldn't be that hard to take a part. Are you sure you didn't cross-thread it when you put it back together?? Easy to do with brake lines and a sure leak.

And, yep, at this point you have to restrain the block and vice grip the flare nut.

Go to an auto parts store and get a pre- fabbed line. About 6 $ for a short one. Start the nuts by hand and tighten them. I have replaced every hard line and most of the hoses on the Rat. The Mazda is the same age. Patch for now but plan for new lines down the road. :D

I didn't see that there was a clip on the back of the block, so I think that's what's holding it in. As far as the vice grips go, I don't think I can fit them in with that little space.

I also found that the part (soft line) is on rockauto so I can get a new one.

I bought the front hoses at the local Auto Zone for 20 bucks each:D

I think you can get vise grips in there if you believe in yourself. I also think it's probly cross threaded. When you get it, be sure to check that block because I think the block is brass and the fitting is steel so if it was cross threaded, that block needs to be replaced as well

It may be leaking from overtightening. I've found those type of fittings very finicky and will easily split when they are tightened.
