I Cant Get The Bracket Loose I Thought I Got All The Bolts Out Where Are They All Hideing ?

Not sure if you've gotten your answer yet, but when I pulled the power steering out of my new Ranger (newer than my other 88 that is) there were only three bolts holding the whole assmbly in place (I removed the whole lower steering arm with the PS booster attached) and the main connection on the Pitman arm (I think that's what it was called)...

Mine came out fairly easy...

Are you trying to change the PS unit or revert to standard steering?

On my 96 there are the 4 for the a/c compressor, then 2 down under the PS pump, and 1 little 1 toward the rear of the bracket but on the same line(sorta)as the bottom 2.

There are three 13mm bolts: two under the power steering pump and one behind the A/C compressor.

And one 10mm bolt: it's towards the rear of the bracket halfway between the upper and lower 13mm bolts.

96 Ranger 2.3L timing belt cover removal

Ugly and the prior post is right on with the four bolts. On mine (1 - 13mm) behind the AC compressor, 1- 10mm slightly below and to the right and easy to get at, and (2-13mm) below the P/S pump that can be assessed without removing the pump. Best to use eight point sockets especially on the two below the P/S pump. If one of those babies gets rounded U ARE SCREWED. Tried to leave the bolt behind the A/C loose with a few threads but the cover would not come off and had to remove all four bolts.
Was hoping not to have to pull the crank pulley in order to replace the belt but looks like it cannot be done!
