I needed to change spark plugs on my 2000 ranger 2.5 with 144,000 miles as the check engine light came on. To my surprise, there are eight of them. I was intimidated by the intake manifold and soon gave up, taking truck to mechanic. He asked if I would like to replace wires at the same time. I said OK. When i got the truck the ignition wires did not lay in order as they did before. The mechanic said that the aftermarket wires are longer than the original. I wonder if the wires are connected from the correct ignition location to each side of the cylinder. Does it matter? Now each drivers side plug is connected to a connection nearest the drivers side. The module nearest the front powers the drivers side plug in cylinder 2 and 3 and the passenger side plug in 1 and four. Are these mis wired? the truck seems to run OK and check engine light has not come on.
