I found these on Ebay and can't decide which I want. Wish I had the funds for the finned aluminum Cobra ones, but oh well. No it's not a Cobra motor.

Well what is the going price for the black finned Cobra covers? I've got a spare set here doing nothing. They were going on my Ranchero but I went with the stock look instead. Just been too lazy to post them for sale.

There's a set used on ebay for $100 + shipping. They would need some touch ups because the paint is chipped. New they go from $145- 165. These chrome ones are $55.

I'd hold out for the black finned ones......I put a set on my 302 Bronco....loved them, and the matching breather cover.

This was the Bronco engine.....not spotless, but functional:

Gold and/or chrome valve covers don't get it for me.

i got the valve cover ones on my mustang that says powered by ford IIRC, they are the finned ones and cost 120 bucks and shipping

I say save your cash and get the ones you really want, whichever ones they are. But to me the black finned covers look the best. Plus I'm not much of a chrome loving guy, although if you get a chromed set you can get a little spray kit to give it a black chrome finish without all the cost.

I have some old school Mickey Thompson finned in the shop, need to be blasted.
Let me know if you want them.

I got a set of like new stamped chrome Edelbrocks for $20 off of craigslist... since engines usually come with valve covers you could run stockers until something crawled along that you like.

black finned.. everywhere under the hood. its a clean look and requires less clean up

Who cares?...lol Just paint yours and save the money for a better cause. Who is going to see those stupid valve covers when you are parked for the night? Who is going to see them when you are washing the truck or driving it or in class or at work?? Nobody. Save your money!!! I have not bought custom valve covers in years and I only bought them then because I had show cars and trucks that never really got out much..only to car shows to show off the motors I spent months putting together. If I want something trick I wil just paint them with a neat wrinkle finnish paint and just stand back and say 'woooooo, ahhhhhhh, so neat and wicked'!!! Nobody sees them when you are driving that thing around!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently the OP does. :icon_idea:

Not sure what it is for, but for a RBV V8 swap about 75% of the peole that find out about it about have to see it.

My $20 valve covers:

I got them used, dunno how much run time they had. Had some sludge on the inside though. They had been hanging on my garage wall until I got a 302 worthy of my truck for 3 years. I know the bay is dirty, but this was taken mid-swap and I was on a timeline to get it out of the shop.

I have no regrets :icon_thumby:
