Apparently the OP does. :icon_idea:

Not sure what it is for, but for a RBV V8 swap about 75% of the peole that find out about it about have to see it.

yes. Plus I would like it to look good when I do open the hood. I could hit the stockers with some paint and that would be just fine. But, as my wonderful wife says, if you're gonna spend all that time and money to do this, make it like you want it because you'll be sick later on if you don't. Which is one reason I'm looking at an Edelbrock intake and Holley 600 to replace the 2bbl that's on it now.:woot::3gears:
Hopefully the AOD will offset the propensity to put my foot in it and I'll get reasonable mpg's.

I know you must obviously be looking for the carb'd manifolds. But these things have grown on me. I like them a lot now:

EDIT: If I could make one recommendation with your gaskets, I've had great success with the steel/rubber set that I bought about 10 years ago. I've had the valve covers off a few times and they reused them with no leaks whatsoever.

Good luck on that...

But the od will really make a difference on the highway.

+1, I got a set from the local parts store and I really like them. I got a one peice rubber/steel oil pan gasket too.

My $20 valve covers:

I got them used, dunno how much run time they had. Had some sludge on the inside though. They had been hanging on my garage wall until I got a 302 worthy of my truck for 3 years. I know the bay is dirty, but this was taken mid-swap and I was on a timeline to get it out of the shop.

I have no regrets

So....you want that custom look, right? Then why the dirty engine compartment?? Got to show off the motor and people see the crud in there?? lol

Yeah, you would have thought I would have explained that in the post.

To go even more in depth, I pulled it off the road in the middle of winter (last January) and poked another engine/trans in it. I did it in an empty bay at work, not needed until planting season. I didn't know how long it would take, and how it would go so I didn't dink around with things that didn't contribute to the swap. Waxing the firewall did not contribute to the swap... so it did not happen.

I do want to detail it post swap, but just haven't had time. If you notice (and as I pointed out) that was a pic of it during the swap.

Haaaa haaaa, I know, Bro!!! I am just messing with you!!!! I think the V8 swap is cool in a Ranger. I just don't need to to do a swap or I would have already. I guess if I need a motor for my Ranger I will do a swap. I have 3 nice unused motors in our warehouse. I have a 302 Boss new crate motor that is for a future prodject, I have a nice low milage 86 GT 302 and I have a brand new in the crate 427 side oliler. Righ now I am working o my 1.6 upgrade to my 87 Sammie and I am close to being done. I got it running, just need to fine tune it some more.

^^^^Care to show us the engine compartment in YOUR V-8 Ranger?????

I don't need to do a V8 swap at this time. I could do one tonight ifd I wanted to. But WHY? Mu 4.0 runs like a top and I never had any issues with my Rangers or my Jeeps!! All my rides are running and in perfect shape. I have a motor that none of you can afford anyway. I have several V8's sitting in our warehouse and just got too many projects to do anything right now. I have a brand new in the crate 427 side oiler from 1967. It was going to go in my 76 Bronco 2 summers ago, but somebody wanted my 76 Bronco so bad that when the guy and his wife showed up with $17,000 cash...I sold it to them. I paid off one of my two 50 acre tracks up in the Ocal area with that loot!!! Now I am dept free except to pay taxes!!!!! We paid off my VA home loan last year. It was a 10 year loan for our new house. Dept free and loving it!!!!
