Hey so I went to move my truck today because I got a warning to be towed but it wouldn't start. Its a 86 ranger 2.0 carbed. the battery is completely dead so I tried jump starting it but the solenoid just makes a loud clicking/almost grinding sound. I tried jumping the terminals but nothing would happen. I also tried to push start it but it wouldn't even try to start. Maybe cause there is zero juice at the battery? Is this a starter issue or whats going on? The truck has been sitting for a few months cause my license is suspended but everything worked perfect before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the battery is completely flat it's hard to start with a boost and impossible to push start. You need to charge it to some degree.

I would have to agree with martin,it sounds like your batteries cells are completely dead, some times a battery will go dead for sitting so long, and the battery may not be any good anymore, batteries need to have some life from time to time even when sitting, hope this helps
