recheck wiring and connections...yes even grounds.

there is a rely for the fuel pump, also there should be a in-line fuse.

Do you here the FP as you turn the key on,(not all the way to start??)

check to see if the interia fuel switch is tripped?

I have fuel pressure at the fuel rail it is like none of the injectors are opening and spraying it.

recheck ground and connections where harness plugs into the ECM, passagner side ,inside the cab, right side panel.

may also want to double check the TFI, remove and test, to make sure it good as well. test it at least 3 times

How do i check the tfi?

the easy way is to remove it and take to a parts store that capableof testing such things, free to boot. O reillys & Advanced Auto spring to mind. run test at least 3 times

there is another way with analog Mutimeter mentioned in the tech library.

guess i should have asked what is the TFI? thanks

Sorry....it is in other words, the ignition module. stands for Thick Film Ignition.

this little gem is located on back side of the distributor housing and has a inline 6 or 7 pin connector out the side, passager side. about the size of a flip top lighter...just twice as long.

when going back together be sure to apply "dielectric compund" to the TFI module...this helps insulate and seal heat and moisture out.

it is hard,,, but... take note of the pin connector on the under side of the distributor, where this plugs in. make sure that the everything is good there, not crusty or half burnt connector. A little mirror with well aimed flash light should do it.

Ok thats what i thought you were talking about. but i don't understand y your are thinking it would be that since i have spark? could you clue me in thanks again

That little gem...the TFI...also helps control the fuel pumps too. can't really say that it with great confidence that it controls injector impulses too....but wouldn't surprise me if it did. these things are known to have heat isssues, so If you know that it is good then it can be ruled out as a cause.

Same Symptoms

Was really excited when I read of this strange orange wire, couldn't wait to get up the next morning cuz I was sure that must of been my problem to. It was not, where do I go next? Loss of power after engine warms up, rough idle, dies intermittently, pours black smoke, sucking gas horribly. Then I thought it maybe was the cat. converter, well shortly after 2 mechanics told me it wasn't cat and exhaust blew up. This maybe a stupid question but does that diagnose my problems as a plugged cat. Could that alone cause all my issues?

A plugged cat could have some of those symptoms, but if its cherry red when the truck is running its a given that its plugged.

Well i went and had the TFI (ingition module) checked and it was good. We checked it 4 times and tested good every time. Any tips on what i should go to next to get the injectors to spray fuel?
