Heater fire in 1986 ranger??

I have yet to clean mine out.. From the pictures I've seen in the other threads, everyone i've seen has No A/C.

Would I have to take the Entire AC unit off to clean the leaves that are in there?

I didn't find any when I took my blower motor off. But I'm sure there's some in there.

It should come away ok but you will have to split the box (bunch of screws to hold it together) before you can get the evaporator out of it. The evaporator will filter things out, mine was almost completely plugged when I chucked it and plugged the holes.

Mine originally had AC but I swapped to a non-AC box when I needed V8 room. I didn't have most of the stuff to make the AC system work anyway.

Has anyone attempted rewiring and installing new heater and blower in your ranger? If so what wiring harness would you recommend for a 1986 4 cylinder ranger. Eventually would like to add AC later down the road.
