Does anyone know where I can get a self-adhesive heat shield? I need one to put in between the transmission and the cab floor(ing). When I drive, the whole bottom of the floor/seat/shifter gets extremely hot.

I looked underneath the cab, and there is no heat shield material left where the 5spd transmission is. there's only zig-zagged glue lines of where at some point, there must have some been some kind of heat-shield.

I looked at a few auto parts store nearby (Oreilly's, AutoZone, Napa, Car Quest, Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts, etc) and all they sell is a "DEI Heat Wrap".

it's not adhesive, and looks like its just meant to wrap around a starter or alternator. They sell heat wrap tape, but it's mostly for headers (header wrap) and other stuff.

anyone know where/how i can get heat shielding? It's cold oustide, but the standard cab does get very hot after an 10-15 minute drive (and I have an hour-long commute)

Much appreciated! :icon_cheers:

You could probably make your own pretty easy. The OEM piece is basically fiberglass insulation, tin foil, hard foam, and glue.

Yeah I looked and most of the stuff is special ordered, and not cheap. I may just opt to by the few square feet of what they sell at local auto parts store, and find a good high-temp resistant adhesive/glue and go that route.

Any recommendations on what is a high temp adhesive?

have you tried looking at a spray on liner like rhino liner or a cheaper rattle can product? They resist heat well and wont peel off. As far as a good hi-temp adhesive? Best bet would probably be to go to the parts store and ask them what they have in stock, or call a ford dealer's parts or maintenance department and ask them what thy use.

I have made heat shields using aluminum flashing. It works well if you leave an airspace between the shield and whatever your shielding.
