healthcare reform??

I haven't been fortunate enough to land that super sweet job with nice health insurance right off the bat. Despite 6 years of college.

Would I like to see a national healthcare plan? Absolutely. If I get injured, get cancer, suffer some horrible medical mishap, I'm screwed. I cannot pay it.

Do I want this one passed? If it's the one that forces me to buy healthcare, OR ELSE, then very much NO. That's a ridiculous way to solve it, because if I could afford that, I would have done that already. I'm rewiring things for my dad and neighbors and family, fixing cars, cutting down trees, stuff I could seriously hurt myself doing.

I'm barely scraping by as it is...

It is supposed to be subsidized for those that can't afford it. Beats the heck out of those that can't afford normal insurance just going bankrupt and getting the taxpayers to pay for everything.

It shouldn't be required though, if someone doesn't want to pay anything into the kitty, they should get nothing out of it... no bankrupcy option.

Some parts need fixing, some didn't. Bottom line is; this is the first time that you are required to purchase something from the gov't or pay the penalty. I pay enough for my rarely used coverage, I'm not too keen on paying for Joe Schmo who doesn't do anything except leech off the system anyway. The only ones not affected by this at all are the indians, they are exempt.

Thanks, Obama. 200+million said NO, you wained and payed off the Demos to say YES.

Um......no. Democracy is for the people by the people, not for the President's demands by the loose congress.

Moron.

Incorrect, those laws are state laws, the federal government has no say in the matter, or at least shouldn't.

Honestly does it matter if it's a state law or Federal gov't law? Can you ignore it anyless? So you are saying state laws are o.k. Fed laws are bad? any loss of freedom either from state laws or fed laws still stinks IMO.

I hate it. Right now in Indiana My and my wife get no copay, no limit, no deductible insurance for $20 a month because we make less than 35k a year. My wife has some serious problems shes had sence she was a kid. If it wasnt for this we would be totaly screwed.

If this pass's and its more than I can afor I will move to Hawaii. They have had free health care for years.

I hate to tell you but even hawaii will have to comply with the federal regulations the same as every state you will still be required to purchase government approved health insurance and pay all the taxes associated with it is just a way for obama to raise the taxes without actually raising the income tax you will be taxed for health insurance. Sit back and watch your money disappear. You will have to prove to the IRS every month you are in compliance or you will be fined and they will put a lean on your paycheck, house or property. In short they own us now and it will get worse unless we vote them out of office. It is the law and there is no reason to believe they wont enforce it to the letter. pelosi and reed have to go and soon, as social justice is just a term for communism/socialism where the government has total control of your money and property. The government is forceing us to buy a product and will fine us if we can't or don`t.

The system has faults. Only a few are addressed in this current abortion of legislation.

I think we needs lawyers out of it and the FDA cut WAY back. All the crap to get medications to market and the bad ones still skate through.

I was aware that they had free medical for children for a short while, however those who had the means to provide for their children began to drop coverage and enroll in the free coverage, causing unsustainable costs. Hawaii dropped the program, iirc.

Isn't it crazy how these elected officials voted to pass this, but now all these states have filed suit against it? There is a HUGE problem when our elected representatives vote on something and the states file suit against it. Obviously these people aren't giving the voters what they want.

You are correct...

But to most people true "communism" is unknown (and a crack pipe dream)
and indistinguishable from what is more precisely known as "Marxism"

How very true.

I would love to see true, pure form communism. The problem is that it doesn't work. It looks great on paper, but once you add real living, breathing humans to the mix it breaks.

The problem is that pure form communism doesn't account for the fact that people are A) greedy and B) lazy. You can have a communist system with 2000 people. If one is greedy and one is lazy and the other 1998 aren't it still won't work.

So I take the next best thing which is Smithian Capitalism. Smith said that companies and corporations need to exists first and fore-most for the good of and advancement of society. If they truly held to that ideal then we wouldn't need the government stepping in to help people. Our charity organizations would be well funded enough to take care of the people who really need it and let the bums who just don't want to work starve and die.

But the corporations are greedy and won't donate. They are concerned only with their bottom line. They donate just enough to look good, but not enough to actually help make a huge difference.

We need a political revolution. A complete turning of the system back to when those elected to represent us and make the decisions "for the good of the common man" actually knew what he wanted and needed. Not deliberated, legislated, and bickered until they achieved something that forces him to purchase something that he wants but is beyond his means.

This is not the dreaded "Universal Health Care" of Canada and Britain, it is worse. Their systems are broken but government run and funded. This is merely a law that punishes us for not having what many want but cannot afford.

We need to return to the days when Congress was run by farmers and shop keepers. It was not a full time job, it was an endeavor undertaken in the off-season, for the betterment of the society, not a full-time job where you could take your time ans screw off and hold things up until the bill at hand looked the way you wanted it too.

Whether they know it and accept it or not the Federal Government ARE OUR EMPLOYEES.

I SAY WE FIRE THEM!!!

Hell yes it matters. I can escape a F****d up Oregon and move to Montana if I don't like the Oregon Health Plan (which I will and which I don't). If the Feds impose some B.S. on me there is nowhere to run. No voting with your feet.

There are some cases where state laws can override federal law. California's Medical Marijuana Laws for example. It is possible, but something tells me that it won't be happening in this case.

I don't know if it was right or wrong (lots of propaganda out there going both ways) but the health care system in the US does NEED reformed.

We spend the most money on healthcare of any other UN country and get the worst... it isn't pretty.

How does it feel to be utterly CLUELESS about what you speak?

FYI: people from all over the world come here for healthcare because it is the BEST in the world.

Or, was, until now.

Really? I don't remember that when I lived there...

Do you feel we are going to lose doctors and equipment? That is all the made our health system better.

It's not government run yet,the insurance carries have to be run into the ground first, then the gov't will be the only game in town. If the insurance providers have to take pre-exsisting conditions they will eventually end up paying out more then thay take in and they can't operate in the red like gov't.
